It magically feels like yesterday. The fairies of the Winx Club confronted an evil being called Lord Darkar who tried to capture the pixies and wanted their magic for himself to take over the world. Magic, excitement, enchantments, comedy, drama, wonders, imagination, romance, must, action, fantasy, thrills, and adventures. Awesome! The best anime I used to watch on Saturday mornings when I was 12 - 15 years old, Mew Mew Power. It was on Fox5, 4Kids. I remember it and haven't forgotten it after many years. Zoey Hanson, Corina Bucksworth, Bridget Verdant, Kikki Benjamin, Renee Roberts, Elliott Grant, Wesley, Mini-Mew, Mimi, Megan, Mark/Blue Knight, Dren, Sardon, Tarb, Deep Blue, predasites, and Cyniclons. I wish they could come back and resume the fun like they used to because I only saw them in season 1, 26 episodes in English dub. But never season 2 when it was spoken in Japanese (Tokyo Mew Mew), that was all I knew. But I love Mew Mew Power. Nothing ceases to amaze me with magic. I never give up believing in fairies and magic with all my heart because I still refuse to grow up, and forget about the precious things I know, especially those from my childhood. No growing up, yuck! I am like Peter Pan and have his youthful spirit. My one and only wish is to keep the magic alive for all time and I also wish to be a fairy to stay strong, childlike, young, and beautiful forever and ever like Tinker Bell, and the other fair folks. So he basically stopped doing Meowth because he took another job elsewhere. Same with why Ted Lewis left as James after those first seven episodes he did, but given how early they were in the show then why didn't they just have Eric Stuart redub all his parts? Why even bother leaving Ted's performance there? Matthew left in the early 30s so redubbing by that point with Maddie wouldn't have been necessary, but he is CRAZY. By that point, the show was like at 100 episodes in Japan and this was a main role. WHY would you leave to do ANYTHING else?

Also, voicing on Pokemon at that time barely paid anything…even once they knew the show was successful. He left to take a much better paying job that would have gone towards him having health insurance. There are many factors to consider.

@@4KidsFlashback First off, hi Tara! I made this same comment over on X which you didn't reply to yet but you don't have to worry about that since you've replied here. I really didn't expect a response here since you usually reply on X. Anyway, I get wanting more money and seeing how these roles pay the bare minimum, but he should have considered wanting more money when he got casted because not too long after is when he got that theater job so clearly his investing to Pokemon wasn't a high thing for him, especially if any other job would require him to leave NYC. He basically just wasted everyone's time and the chances of him coming back to reprise a role that Maddie changed up was unlikely because her voice performance was rather different. Switching back to the old one would have been odd so perhaps they should have told Maddie to be closer so the transition of him returning could work. It is what it is though. I just wish he could have stayed given they already had to swap out one Team Rocket member just episodes earlier with James. Thank God Rachael Lillis stayed put. I would have talked him into staying by giving him maybe one or two other roles and thus warrant a pay increase if he needed more money.

@@devontehuntley6274 Agree to disagree. A lot of people left 4Kids to pursue other things. I was one of them. So was Andrew Rannells. When you move to NYC to be a theatre actor and you get offered a theater role, you take it. He was a Yale trained theater actor. Of course he left to work at a prestigious theater in Chicago (where many shows do their pre-broadway tryouts). Those early days of Pokemon were done at Taj in a tiny studio and he would have had no idea if the show would continue - many people tried asking for more money...it didn't happen. Also, he couldn't have known they wouldn't give him the role back...he had no reason to doubt what they wrere saying...maybe if they said that he would lose the role if he went to Chicago, he would have stayed. But that's not what they said.

@@4KidsFlashback How do people go to NYC to do theater but wind up getting into voice acting? I find that interesting because many have gone to do theater. I just think it's a waste of voice casting when you're given a role that's meant to be long running and shortly after you want to jump ship to other things. I wouldn't mind the theater route if it was still in NYC and thus you're able to still do voice work to avoid a recasting, but if you're planning to go elsewhere then I wouldn't bother pursuing any voice acting in the meantime unless it's a short stint you can finish before the move. In the end, it seems Matthew shouldn't have bothered auditioning for Meowth or in a greater case Ted auditioning for James. I certainly find it disheartening when a voice actor leave when they're at the tail of their role as in your case with Mokuba on Yu-Gi-Oh since you had just one more season, as with Megan Hollingshead who left after Season 3 when Mai was only around for another year that would require her voice (the character appeared briefly in Season 5 but had no lines). Recastings can be tricky and often frowned upon because many have not been good. Maddie is one of the few instances it's done successfully and rather glad she stuck around for the long haul. Still quite a shame Matthew couldn't, but it's whatever. -_-
