No Wonder barley any germans are painitng Figurines. 200€ for a Figurine that will takes you More then 15h to prep and Paint is just not enough. Plus the Tax you have to Pay for selling or -30%. Great Video, but how does these Painters afford to live

Yeh I do wonder, could dig deep into the issue but I have a sad feeling it might lead to cheap labour in Asia… that being said I think the advancement in 3D printing might mean more of these will be done by machines, which could mean lower prices (but also loss of jobs for painters)

@otakuoverlordx I mean, the loss of jobs for painters might be a bit strong, because yes, I am lucky that I am already returning customers. So I would say it will get harder to get into the commission business when you can already get good figurines for 200€. So like any business you have to get good and need the skills to get like anything to live in this case.

@otakuoverlordx good morning! Well, at some point in my life, I really want to be a full-time painter, but currently, it is a side job where I am about 50 sold 1/8 Sclae figurines deep with 2 years of experience. But jeah, my main job is a classic IT lead as an ex furry, so fully in the stereotype.

Big piece of advice when importing into the uk do not mark anything as a GIFT, sadly the uk import threshold for gifts is only £39 as it hasn't been upped in years so by marking it as a gift you woul expose yourself to a higher amount of fees. But great video as always! The reason using amiami points to adjust the price doesn't work is the parcel needs to be insured to full value so you could claim money back if anything went wrong. Also try using Solaris on certain figures as their import slider at checkout can adjust the package value!

Thanks! Great advice! I'd also add that, and this might only apply to US shoppers, but Good Smile US has amazing labor day sales, like 40% off on so many really incredible figures. In general though, AmiAmi is going to be much cheaper most of the year, and even on some figures during the labor day sale. So sometimes, if the price doesn't seem to be budging, it pays to be patient

With a few exceptions, most of the stuff in Akihabara is from Taobao, Ali, etc with 5x-100x markup. Same for don quijote stores. I don't understand why people buy anything there.

+1 on the "don't pre-order" tip if you're really tight on money. I bought 1/8th scale fate lancer alter (third ascension) figure recently for the original price of ~66,000 Yen.. Lo and behold, it is now ~46,000 Yen.... also don't ask how much i paid DHL to ship the damn thing since it's classified as an oversized package thus driving the price up to the moon. ... that being said... i pre-ordered the latest Aegir from Azur Lane a few months ago..... don't follow my bad examples

@@otakuoverlordx I was very tempted to; however, I actually don't have any more real estate to realistically fit more figures. When the Agir figure arrives next year, i m definitely going to be questioning my previous self why I bought it.... My favorite Azur Lane character is definitely Musashi though so whenever a scale figure of her gets released (apparently there are two in the works?) it's over.

Same!! Some figures I can’t risk to not have them, like the Alter Schwarz, luckily even after 6 months it’s still not reduced so I made the right decision there. But most figures just drop in price these days…

If you really want one, like you think will eventually get it no matter what, pre-order it always, otherwise don't. Some lines of figures should always be pre-ordered though, Pop Up Parade for example. Cheap to begin with but after release they just go up and up.

I wouldn’t mind if you watched my recent video and give me some feedback since I started posting videos around Dec 2023 lol Anyway, valid tips shopping through AmiAmi! I don’t purchase through AmiAmi because I was banned when I was a broke grad student lol I buy from GSC Global, Hobby Genki, and Hobby Search. GSC Global is great for that flat rate shipping but I live in the US so I don’t worry about customs like other collectors.

Also no alcohol, no take out including coffee, no driving when you don't need to, no eating out all the time, no subscriptions, cheapest phone plan, list goes on. You don't have to avoid spending any money, you just have to give yourself a budget and not do it all. I abide by the things I listed off, but I also spent $1500 on figures and vintage games during my Japan trip at the start of the year, and will do it again before the year ends. Weigh your joys in life.

Oh no sorry to hear that, at least she’s standing so not noticeable? Have you tried using a hair dryer or a bit of warm water on the foot? Might help it get loose, but if she looks fine might not be worth doing She’s my favourite bunny also! Love her design

@@otakuoverlordx Yes it's not noticeable although I'm sometimes scared she'll fall over (but that's just the typical fear lol). I'm kinda scared of trying that, it's really jammed in there, the peg isn't sticking out at all but thank you regardless! Yes it's always so cool when they're doing something different than the typical bunny suit so she feels really unique and stylized! Other 1/4 scales I adore are Maid Eruru and Duke of York.

You could apply some sticky tac at the bottom of her foot to help add some safe adhesive if that gives you some piece of mind otherwise if she’s stable should be ok! Great choices on Eruru and Duke of York! You have very cool contrast of bunny figures!

@@otakuoverlordx I actually did that at first but it was bothering me after all so I took it off and so far she's been stable :D But I appreciate the advice! Thank you, admittedly when I started, I bought a lot of bunny figures randomly because I was impressed by their size (and still am haha). I've come to regret it because after a while every bunny looks the same except for the face. So I only want to get bunnies that feel special, my only exception would be Revy (Black Lagoon) since there can never be enough of her ^^

This was also my first 1/4 figure and it’s great, all the details are just more obvious because it’s larger! Revy is cool, loved the Black Lagoon anime! They don’t make anime’s like that and Cowboy Bebop much anymore

I saw Lupusregina Beta by Alter and CZ2128 Delta by FuRyu at AmiAmi in Radio Kaikan, if you're looking for them (or any of the older maid figures) now I recommend to check out Trader and Mandarake as they stock more figures that have been released for a while. You'll probably find Entoma Vasilissa Zeta at one of the AmiAmi stores still since she just got released this month!
