Re: the course, it's extremely flat and smooth. T he 36 hour cutoff exists for older, first timers and slower people to have a shot at finishing a 100. CR for men is 14:05 and women is 16:50.
@imjfarley01Ай бұрын
Thanks for the info! That's a great reason to have an extended cutoff. Those course records are in line with what we would expect. As Lisa Williams pointed out, it sounds like it was an extremely humid and hot year which maybe lead to slower podium times. At any rate, thanks for commenting. You all are the gold standard for trail and ultra community involvement and we have a lot of respect for that. Thanks for all you do!!

It was 90 degrees and extremely humid at Badger Trail races. I crewed and was hot, sticky and uncomfortable. There was a 47% drop rate.
@imjfarley01Ай бұрын
Thanks for the info! That makes a lot of sense and we will bring it up in this week's episode. Sounds brutal. Heat index must of been off the charts!!

Good to see you guys, Jamie I didn't recognize you at first, Johnny, loved the Beer, Running, & BS pod, that wedding at Mohican was one of the best. Thanks for the shout out.
Ohio native from Youngstown now living in Colorado Springs the trails are accessible all year round. The snow falls but is often melted by afternoon due to the sun. This year finisher of Tahoe 200, we started at Heavenly ski resort and yeah the forest service still hasn’t given a permit for the whole loop course due to the fires in 2021. They are having a hard time with erosion. But the discussion of the course being “less difficult” than the full loop is missing the the component of the pollen bloom earlier in the season. Multiple people who have run both September and June dates have said due to pollen has a significant effect on the difficulty of the race. Also, the power line climb at mile 120 becomes the power line descent at mile 160. I personally thought going down was way harder than going up.

@AD04070 Colorado Springs sounds like it's the best of all worlds! Thanks for sharing your experience at Tahoe on the current course. Pollen bloom would be horrible to deal with especially if you're outside for several days straight! Good point about the power line downhill. 200+ miles in the mountains is difficult no matter how it's drawn up. Congrats on your finish!! Thanks for listening to our show.

Mohican - longest “continuously” run 100 - 35 years straight. (Covid year with the different course was held while some races were flat-out cancelled!!)

The trash was real, 2 packages from the provided watches was laying on a bench, there was one of the crew member taking this so no racers DQ, and 3 people finished 2012, so 2023 was 2nd time 3 racers finished

Enjoyed the report on the great performances and records this past year. Also a great 48 hour is Earthday near Abilene, KS. A 1.88 mile road loop with a small hill. I competed in the Tunnel Hill 50, Vienna, IL, the same year Camille Heron set the 100 mile world record. I was mile 42 for the 50 and Camille passes me at 84 miles for the 100 when we past each other going opposite directions. I started to run faster so I could be at the finish line when she finished. Too my amazement she past me with less then half mile to go. Wow she was flying.
@UltrarunningNewsNetwork8 ай бұрын
Wow!! What an awesome experience to have the first hand account of such an incredible accomplishment by Camille. She is in a league of her own!! You should of told her to slow down so you can see her finish 😂

Great content guys, and I am not saying this just because John said my name three times. Farley, where was the scene behind you located? I was there before at either a race or fighting a forest fire.

Thanks Don!! Your a legend and we are honored to have learned so much from you. My background in this episode is a picture I took on the Rock Springs Lagunitas fire road in Mount Tamapais State park which is in Marin County California.
