Hi, at my wits end have 14A700 fault code = the negative control deviation during exhaust gas recirculation control is too high, have changed swirl flap motor and manifolds, EGR valve, exhaust pressure sensor, MAF on throttle body and throttle body but fault persists!! Any help appreciated. Car is 2011 E350 CDI 265 bhp with 200K miles, full MB service history.

Great video. I was getting the engine management light on, losing boost, so I bought a cheap code reader, and it came up saying i needed a new turbo, £2,300 i was quoted. Took the plunge, paid an independent garage to put it on the fancier diagnostic tool, and it was the actuator. Not a mechanic, but a socket set was all i needed and fitted it myself in under and hour, fiddly but doable. Immediately the light went out, boost returned and i was quite happy. The carbon build up on my exhausts is quite severe, so i think the next investment for me is an EGR valve. I've a 2008 320 CLS CDI.

I took my MAF sensors out of the Intake and cleaned them and they went back in just fine, there are metal clips that hold the sensors in place. You are very wrong in saiyng that you have to buy the entire butterfly intake plastic piece. You can replace just the sensor, I did it and everyone else lol

Thanks for the video. I have an issue with the car going into a limp mode and only changing gear at just under 3000 rpm. It is throwing P0471 and P1593(00) error codes. The exhaust back pressure sensor was replaced a year ago due to the same symptoms. I am getting avg 3-4 PSI at idle and then increases to 9-10 at constant speeds and increases up to 25-40 psi when accelerating. Some of the MAF orange seals had splits so have replaced all of 4 of them. I've noticed that the MAF readings show one of the sensors showing 1/3rd less air flow past it. I have also run CATACLEAN through the system. Switching the car off and on again can clear the fault and I can drive 100 miles without issue. Then start the car after a very short journey the code pops up and car goes limp. Any recommendations?

@@JCAB72493X I've improved the MAF by changing the air filters. Still have the main problem though. Happens after every 3 or so journeys. I can reset the issue by stopping and restarting the car. Car is booked into a Mercedes specialist next Wednesday for diagnostics. Will let you know if the culprit is found.

@@crowmanfps yes I have the same symptoms. It helped me for a good while just changing air filters and cleaning gaskets because I was noticing oil at the inlet for the turbo but the symptoms came back. I’m suspecting the pcv probably needs to be changed as I’ve seen that when the selector goes bad it lets in a lot of that oil which causes a lot of problems. Please update immediately curious what Mercedes has to say.
@crowmanfps7 күн бұрын
It turned out to be the exhaust back pressure sensor again. Irregular voltage. As the part was only a year old I asked Mercedes for refund which they refused because it was not diagnosed by them. Livid.
@JCAB72493X3 күн бұрын
@@crowmanfps thankyou for updating. I ordered a new Pcv valve because the seals on the selector and going into the intake were worn and I was seeing a lot of oil at the turbo inlet. If the problem persists I’ll look to test the back pressure sensor first. Thanks 👍

I love this car also,Its only 160k kilometer but I run into a bad luck so I had to change the waterpump in the gearbox ..1500 dollars and then the sensor for the adaptive lights in the rear broked(theres one in the left front too for the curves,,) they charge 600 dollars for a sensor even if only the arm is broken) but you could also just remove a fuse to dark the warning light but then you need to check the light settings to pass the cartest.However: I got 2 MB500s before and 2 BMW 750 and one 740 and could say that this 450h from 2007 beats them all in quitness,performance ,fuelconsumtion ,smoothness and also the reliability of electrical funcions in general but the corossionprotections could be a bit better under the car so lexus share the same corrosion issues as toyota in their older models espesially but I live in Sweden...If you live in LA you got rid of those problems;-)

I agree with you there. All Japanese cars seem to have very rust prone metal. I'm not sure why. Maybe the amount of undertrays German cars have help also. But rust protection should be one of the first things in a cold climate for sure.

Hi mate, your video is very informative and is not boring at all, in fact i've watched twice, I hope you may know the answer, i have a 2015 ( 64) CLS 350 cdi bluetec and just had a service done, driving perfectly before, the mechanic manage somehow to break a return fuel line while he was replacing the fuel filter, got this replaced and put everything back as it was, engine is running as before on idle and no warning lights on the dash, however, after 3 or 4 miles there is no boost, put the foot down and nothing, try to paddle shift, nothing... no warning lights and no faults found via diagnostics... i really don't know where to start, i wish now i didn't had the service done.

Sad to see you got rid of it, but I get it. I just bought at auction a high-milage '09 ML280 CDI to fix up for a daily. Sight unseen other than 60+ photos and video walk around of it idling., but for a stupidly good price (1/3 price of what even the cheap ones are going for online). All I knew was that it has a CEL, but drives and has registration (Aussie MOT). Even if I have to do all of the common faults with these, I'll still be up $ wise, and I'll know what has been refreshed and be confident in it for hopefully another 200,000km's. Can you recomend a link for the resistor mod you spoke about for the EGR swirl flaps? My old BMW, I just removed and had them coded out, but this sounds much more DIY - and I'm a fan of that before paying someone to map it out!

Great job you did there! I would like to buy a used Honda Civic 2.2L diesel, but I’ve read that due to the heavy torque they’ll probably need a clutch + DMF replacement around 100K miles or so, which can work out pretty expensive. Is that accurate, in your experience?

If you can get it done it's worth doing. I know the service interval is like 100k miles but for the couple of hundred quid it will cost you it's a worthwhile investment. I think the diff oil needs to be done too.

@claudiocosterni64887 ай бұрын
I stopped halfway through your video and wrote this. I have 3 of these... wonderful Mercedes engines, installed in the engine bays of three Jeep Grand Cherokee WKs. There are some differences in some external elements, but basically the OM642 engine is the same. For a few weeks one of these Jeeps of mine has been experimenting with Limb mode. Some call it "Limb Home" mode, not just Limb. Which is the correct one? I have purchased various spare parts that my mechanic will have to replace. There is an obvious oil leak which appears to be mainly caused by the smaller orange seal near the turbo on the T-joint of the flexible Air Cleaner To Turbo Hose [53013672AE], and by the nearby CCV/PCV, the oil separator/crankcase black valve. I wonder if in addition to these parts and the underlying external components to be replaced relating to the two intake manifolds [actuator motor, joints and arms], it is appropriate to go even deeper and also replace the 2 oil cooler gaskets [which I have already purchased, included in a repair kit supplied by IDParts]. But since we cannot see it from the outside, we cannot know what state it is in. In any case, it will be a long, complex and exhausting task, I understand this well, and consequently also very expensive as workforce. Can you give me some suggestion?
@enginium60437 ай бұрын
Limp mode is short for limp home mode but either is valid. Ok it's good you have noticed the leak at the top. The arms etc are for the swirl flaps, usually the dripping oil from where your car is leaking breaks that motor. So people just leave them open and use the resistor trick. The oil cooler will need done at some point depending on the year of production. It also depends how long you want to keep the cars, how much you are willing to spend and if you are doing it yourself or not. Its quite a big job, good chance to clean and sort everything but it's close to 10hours labour so I've heard.
