Can anyone tell me if the 1.5 dCi engine fitted to the Megane III has issues with the crankshaft bearings? I know that the early 1.5 dCi models had this defect. Mine is a Megane III 1.5 dCi 90hp with 230,000 km, and so far the car runs very well.

I have a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan with this exact engine and it is an excellent engine offers a decent power output and excellent fuel consumption the best i have gotten out of it thus far is 5.9 litres per 100 kilometres.

Ok guys im confused about these engines, can someone catch me up on the discourse of these engines? Are they like dogshit? Are they the holy grail? I have no idea and i see people genuinely go to the end of the earth every now and then to say how good or bad they are and i just want to know what up with them

The 1.9 TDI has lots of variants under two different injection systems: VE: electronic pump or PD: Pumpe Düse. The PD engines have individual high pressure pumps driven by the camshaft. The most praised version in the US is the ALH which is a VE engine.
