This is a bugger to assemble. The nut doesn't stay in place when putting the leg on.

I’m 63 yo woman and am stuck at step one too. I don’t have nearly the strength to lift the tab. Knees aren’t useable either. But we’ll give it a go. Opening the box was difficult as I’ve a pair of well used scissors. What a trial!! Now step one for the physically challenged, sick and or elderly… there’s no opening this thing. I can’t use my knees. I tried standing on it and using the leg to open anything. My fingers can’t lift the tab at all. Can’t budge it. The leg in under it, can’t budge it. Too much pressure on my shoulders begins the sign of a migraine. (I hope I’m wrong.) Easy to assemble? If Jason does it, yes. The box is buggered so I can’t send it back. I don’t want to send it back. I’ve been wanting something decent to hang my clothes on since i moved here in June ‘23. I expected to wait until I had a little energy to put it together and have a load on it tonight. Another blow to my independence.

I was searching for Hills portable clothesline instruction.... and "Hills clothesline FROM HELL" came up...would be a huge improvement to see you actually do more than allude to the complete assembly. I've already broken one plastic component trying to get the leg to go down without sticking :(((( So I've sanded the plastic where legs connect and sprayed with WD40 to get it to move more freely.

I broke one doing this I used WD40 helped a lot.

Hi. Did you smother it in wd40 or were there strategic points you applied it to?

Seriously I am an older woman living alone and have nearly given myself a heart attack struggling with that blue push button. I just leave the line UP all the time now.

I had very hard time with part one as a 77 year old female! Resorted to use WD40 after breaking a part of it. Took me all afternoon to work that bit. Rest tomorrow! Hope it’s easier 😢 I have had one before that be 15 years old.

You are a life saver Jason. I was terrified at the prospect of putting this contraption together until I found your video. Mind you, I STILL managed to put two of the legs on backwards. Argh!

Can I pay extra to have it delivered put together?
@TheClotheslineStore2 жыл бұрын
We do offer free delivery Michelle however we don't offer an assembly service for this line I'm sorry. Airtasker or a local handyman service may be a great alternative for the assembly :)

Marvellous video. Being able to see visually each step and a few helpful hints, meant I was able to construct the 170 clotheline. I am sure I would have struggled with only the written booklet. Thanks

Poorly designed. Lock nuts fall out from location before you can get the legs on. Legs way too tight to fit over the plastic part. No washers provided for between the screws and powder coating... an engineering no no if its not stainless steel. Line catches on screws when trying to thread through... you have to hook it out (I had to bend the edge of a knife over). Line end caps don't fit properly no matter HOW much you poke the line down, especially at the final cap. This is the first AND last Hills product I will buy... Very disappointed, and 3 hrs assembly for something so basic is unacceptable.... and I've worked in engineering all my life.

Thank you for your comments Linda, the video show you how to assemble the clothesline and covers all the areas you have mentioned. The assembly time is typically 30 to 45 minutes.
