😂 It is work in progress and now also adopted by internal teams so getting more attention and priority. The benefit (if you may call it that) is that it aligns with other business applications. For non business sites I do agree you probably need something else.

I misread your comment, overlooked the word 'need'. Yes, the exercise I try to do here in this lifestream is to see if I can actually use the native components from each of the platforms by using MAUI as interface between .NET and the device. As I see it at this time, you can implement the Blazor Web in MAUI apps and interact between Blazor to MAUI to access the native device options. What I'm looking for is starting with Blazor, and adding MAUI to the equation for the native access but that didn't happen (yet). Follow along in the upcoming weeks to see where we can get this going!

Ohhh, haha as you mention the "quote too many" looking back at the recording I saw it almost immediately. The one quote completely invalidated the complete file into one big error instead of giving an indication where to look for the error, but getting it to work by copying in chunk by chunk 🙂. I also wondered why things like the 'emoji' component was incomplete (for instance, in the Flags section only a few flags are in, the most important flags like the one from NL is not in there). My overall experience was that it was 'work in progress' 😉

The two projects in the solution are supposed to launch individually. The 'browser' instance is actually the 'server' that will be loaded in the TaskPane. In real life this will be deployed for instance as an Azure Web App that serves the UI. Excel is just loading the Manifest file that points to the 'server' to get the TaskPane UI from there. Did you close the browser before accessing the TaskPane? If so, the server is no longer serving and the TaskPane will throw an error.

These are exactly the things that I wanted to try out next. Especially the TypeScript option to get an even better .NET feel to the Office Dev tools. I will have a break however, but will be back in October ... hope you can join again by then. I have lots of plans for the upcoming year showing what we can do with Office Dev. I just committed the Outlook Blazor Add-in demo in the Microsoft Repo for people to try out!

The remoteAppURL is injected magically by the Visual Studio 'manifest project'. If you look at my initial Proof of Concept project here: github.com/aafvstam/BlazorAddIn you'll see that I use a different technique to switch between 'dev' and 'prod' manifests. That POC is also using GitHub Actions to build and deploy the project to Azure when checked in. That Add-in is still alive and deployed on Azure here: blazortestaddin.azurewebsites.net/ so if you sideload the 'prod' manifest (the one containing that azure link) you can run that from Azure. In short, you can just replace the remoteAppURL with the URL you want (localhost or the deployed URL) and sideload the manifest.

If it is starting the browser and Excel you have the Excel Add-in, not the Word Add-in (the host is specified in the manifest.xml) what is the repo and .sln that you started? The Word Add-in Sample can be found here: github.com/OfficeDev/Office-Add-in-samples/tree/main/Samples/word-blazor-add-in (it will soon be relocated when my new PR is merged, by that time the Excel Add-in will be found there side by side. It works now, Maybe it's not working in Rider. But works fine in VS2022

@@MartinHAndersen Cool, the 'manifest project' in the solution is doing some magic to sideload and kick off the Add-in in the selected host. Maybe that is not compatible in Rider, you could file an issue with JetBrains but not sure if they can fix that. I have looked into the VS Template myself and haven't discovered how they kicked in the sideloading in order to create a new Blazor Add-in Template. Hope to get more on that from the MS team later on.

One thing I don't understand. The office web-view don't support WSAM so how can client side Blazor work? I know how JS interop works but still you need a running Blazor app to call into the office js lib. I have coded 5 Blazor apps for the bank that I am working in, and I REALLY like Blazor WASM. They have no asked me to code an Excel web add-in that can insert data from some rest api's I have build. I would LOVE to reuse the code that I have already build

@@SoftAsInSoftware this is really helpful, actually we wanted to remove a step where user will download a file and do the edit. We wanted them to directly edit the file in excel and save if required or leave it. In case they close the excel without saving file will be deleted.

What file path are you refering to?

The code in the demo is in general a simple generated project by running "yo office" (for full details on the Yeoman generator: github.com/officedev/generator-office ). I do have my own github repo where I put some sample scipts, test projects and forked repos I work on at github.com/aafvstam but this one was a generated boilerplate with Yeoman
