Some say there’s no reason to get off at portage- I disagree. For a lot of communities in central and northern Wisconsin up the way on I-39 and US51, portage is the closest and most convenient station. It’s what I do to get to and from my family’s home in central Wisconsin from my home in Illinois. Taking the train to portage and then driving an hour north, it works pretty well. I personally appreciate this station for existing.

I believe they are green in Europe as well, but I thought they had more American aspects to their signage since they use "Maximum (speed in km/hr)" and not the red circle
@msptransit3 ай бұрын
Europe does have green exit signs, and you are correct that signage in Canada (like speed limits) are quite similar to American signs.

bruh, its all about money. light rails and subways r not going to be as cost-effective for a midwestern city than brt.
@msptransit3 ай бұрын
As valuable rail is, unfortunately it cannot be put in place in every project, nor should it. The E line will improve frequency and speed along the corridor. Unfortunately, funding for rail is also very difficult to fund and has faced a lot of backlash recently in the Twin Cities so it’s the best we can get for now.

My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🛤🚊🚂🚃🚄🚅🚇🚈🚉🚝🚞🚋 they're one of his favorite things in the whole world 🌎! He finds those bi level electric cars very interesting and thinks they are highly underrated rail transportation vehicles. He also thinks that the part of the Virginian Railroad that use to be electrified should be "reelectrified" and the departments of transportation should run these on them and the part of the Milwaukee Road Pacific Extension that was electrified as well.
@msptransit5 ай бұрын
I agree that we should be electrifying as much of the country’s rail infrastructure as possible. It makes for more efficient, quieter, and quicker trains, which ultimately saves money in the long run. And yes, trains are one of the best things in the world, your son has good taste.

@msptransit5 ай бұрын
The reason why train travel is important to invest in is because it serves communities that otherwise would not be connected by any form of public transportation. Not everyone in the world owns a car. There is a reason why the whole town was our celebrating the arrival of the train, it greatly improves the connections elsewhere, provides a huge economic boost to the local businesses, and helps the town itself grow. The success of the Borealis proves how rail can be successful and is worth investing in. I definitely suggest trying out rail travel again, it is in my opinion the best way to travel because it allows you to relax and enjoy the ride rather than stress before a flight or have to conduct yourself in a car. I really hope that you don’t just dismiss rail travel forever, frankly I feel that notion is very limiting and sad, sorry.
