Hi, and thanks for tuning in. We rarely play Papa's Guitar, for a lot of reasons, including we are seldom in the same place. Rebecca thought we should stop playing depressing songs a few years ago but recently changed her mind and sees it as a great tribute to her grandfather. It had been at least 5 years since we had done it, and not with Elizabeth since she was 6 years old. Neil

Wow, what an interesting and closed minded thought. If steel-string guitars were around in Bach's or Mozart's time do you think they would have ignored them as instruments of the peasant's and not worthy? Please reconsider, it would mean a lot to me. Neil

@@NeilHogan no, I'm just saying that classical music sounds better on a CLASSICAL guitar. During the early modern period, instruments like the lute were widely composed for. The classical guitar is merely a modernized lute. You wouldn't say that a human could do activities common of prehistoric primates better than a gorilla. I think that acoustic guitar is another evolution of guitar, but doesn't sound like the lute once did. Acoustic guitar should be something different. Honestly, if you want to teach people how to play similarly to a classical guitarist, then teach them how to play classical guitar. As a musical educator you should be spreading the notion that all instruments are cool. But, by insisting that acoustic guitar is versatile( which it isn't) you're failing to give your viewers knowledge of what playing classical guitar actually takes. P.S. you didn't have to call me close-minded. If you wanted me to lie, should've said so. Welcome to the KZbin comment section; there's going to be other people who disagree with what you're doing. Hi Arthur, Thanks for the response and I am open to continuing the conversation. Sorry about the closed minded comment. I also have played the lute for over 40 years and I assume you know there was 'classical' music composed for other steel-string instruments like the mandolin and chitarrone (a large lute relative). What do you think Bach would have thought about his music being played on the piano? Of course it came along a bit after he died.
