I have a question, the iPad recognizes and records the audio but it also thinks the USB c cable is an output for audio so I don’t hear anything until I unplug it so I can’t really monitor it, is there a way to fix it?

Can you make an Primus style in BandLab
@davidebrossa4235Күн бұрын
Hi, I watched your videos and I got hooked. I bought alesis vortex 2 but after registering the product it doesn't let me download the Preset Editor software. I need some help suggestions. Thanks
@IbandUK5 сағат бұрын
@davidebrossa4235 Hi, Thanks, I'm glad you like my videos. Alesis has pushed its account management to InMusic and I can see the vortex preset editor download file link is to an exe (win10) file or dmg (mac) file. Unfortunately, modern browsers / firewalls will not download these files directly from the internet as they are deemed insecure. For some reason InMusic does not understand that. Its best to log a support ticket with InMusic or Alesis. Personally, I right mouse clicked the link and clicked on inspect on the popup menu, then clicked on the link in the inspection, then clicked on the arrow on the browser popup and then clicked on download insecure file but I cannot advise you, or anyone else, to download it this way for legal reasons.

There will be no copyright issues right?
@IbandUKКүн бұрын
@PatienceNdidiamakaOnu It really depends on what you intend to do with it and who's song it is. Except for certain types of live performance, If you don't own the copyright to the song, you should get permission to use it from the copyright owner.

Thank!s !!Very powerful videp, very useful ! A question: i'm experiencing that you can modify and make an order exchange with the user sets that you create by yourself. But it's not possibile to modify presets of the factory (from 1 to 30). You can modify same setting but VE20 doesn't save your changes when you press the exit button and you go modify another preset. Is it correct ? Thanks again !
@IbandUK2 күн бұрын
@AM-kh7ue Thanks 😀👍 You cannot change presets 1 to 30 but you can change them and save them in one of the user presets... Make the changes to the preset, press the menu button 11 times so the it says Write on the display, press the right arrow Button, then use the dial knob to select a user preset (the preset number is shown on the left of the display). The red record button is now flashing, so press the left footswitch to save the preset.

Brilliant set of videos. I just can't get this one to work though. Vortex connects seamlessly to a couple of hardware synths, using the Kenton USB host, but not my MC101. Followed instructions and can get noise, and the MC101 is set up to play 3 different presets on the 3 scenes from the 3 clips on Track 2. But can't specify the sounds separately with the vortex pads at all. Same sound every time. Any tips would be fab. Can't seem to get vortex control over the MC101 volume either (on CC7).
@IbandUK3 күн бұрын
@mikegravenor5136 Thanks 😀👍 Changing sounds on the mc101 is a little strange... You need to change the track sound from track based to clip based, you can then choose a different sound for each clip. Then use the pads on the vortex to change the clip. Usually the 4 tracks on the mc101 are set to midi channels 1,2,3 and 4... So to change the volume of track 3 you would need to set the volume fader on the vortex to midi channel 3. If I remember correctly, the global midi channel is 0.
@mikegravenor51363 күн бұрын
@@IbandUK Thanks so much for replying. I have set up track sound to be clip based, and chosen 3 preset sound for each clip. So all "works" on the MC101 as in the video. But the vortex pads won't change the selected clip. I have the pad programmes set to 0 (pad 1) 1 (pad 2) 2 (pad 3) 3 (pad 4) as in the video. The track I used for the clips was 2. I also set the System Midi channel to 2 for tracks 2,3,4 as in the video.
@mikegravenor51363 күн бұрын
got the volume sorted though! (And also only set track 2 to midi 2 so only dealing with one track)
@IbandUK3 күн бұрын
@mikegravenor5136 If you set a clip tone for clip 1, then set a clip tone for clip 2 (both on track 2 with track 2 set to midi channel 2), then set pad 1 on the vortex to program change, channel 2, program 0, LSB 0, MSB 0 and pad 2 to program change, channel 2, program 1, LSB 0, MSB 0... Pad 1 on the vortex will select clip 1 and pad 2 will select clip 2 (on track 2), changing the tone played by the vortex to the tone of that clip.

I have a question about the bluetooth connectivity. If you use this Ax Edge wirelessly, how late is the latency? I'm interested in this but it seems Alesis Vortex 2 have the best connectivity because they use USB dongle and can be used quite far
@IbandUK4 күн бұрын
@barbarianbarbara981 I have both the Ax Edge and the Vortex wireless 2 and I haven't notice any latency difference between the two of them. Both Bluetooth and wireless 2.4ghz are commonly used frequencies by a huge number of public devices, so I personally would not feel comfortable using either the Ax Edge or Vortex more than 2 metres between the transmitter and receiver. Latency will increase by about 1 or 2 milliseconds per metre between transmitter and receiver. I would say, how you chose to use them is more important. The Ax Edge is designed to be used with the built in synth and feel pretty heavy after an hour of playing. The Vortex has no built in synth so is much lighter and is designed to be connected to a computer.

I can't hear the reverb on my voice, only after Recording. How can I fix this?
@IbandUK6 күн бұрын
@Nagadosch First, turn off your speakers/monitors and plug in some headphones, to avoid creating feedback. Then click on the monitor icon on the vocal track header (the icon to the right of the red record/arm icon). Monitoring is on when the icon is blue and you will hear an echo of your voice plus any fx added (there will be some latency, the amount will depend on your computer, audio interface and buffer size).

@IbandUK6 күн бұрын
@sebapaun7896 P01 is the normal message displayed on the screen (it means preset 1 is currently selected). Flashing LEDs is how the vortex tells you the batteries need replacing when they do not have enough power to operate the vortex. Personally, I connect a powerbank to the USB port (using the USB cable) and switch the Vortex to USB on the power switch.

@jannemec1702 Hi, thanks for your suggestion, I will have to dust off my drum kit and my drum mics but I'm sure I can sort something out 😀👍
@vieiradrumss8 күн бұрын
It´s a good choice for drummers.
@IbandUK7 күн бұрын
@vieiradrumss The reason I bought the us16x08 audio interface was to record drums (5 drum mics plus 2 overheads) and it certainly fits my requirements 😀👍
@MikahJeanaEdnalino8 күн бұрын
How come when I record, it records the metronome as well? I use headphones with a mic to prevent it, but it still happens.
@IbandUK7 күн бұрын
@MikahJeanaEdnalino The metronome sound is unfortunately a sound that can be very easily picked up by a microphone (and in bandlab you cannot change the sound), so I recommend either turning the volume down in your headphones, use closed back over ear headphones (sound isolating monitor headphones) or not using the metronome but instead add a drum machine track.

I have a question... Can we copy the automation from one part to another? Like copy paste kind of thing?
@IbandUK9 күн бұрын
@shivanshyadav4068 Sort of... The dots on the automation line are recorded as part of the track clip (if they are over the clip) so, if you copy and paste a clip to another part of the track, any duplicate copy of the clip will also have the same automation dots. If you replace a clip with a new clip, the dots will also be replaced. However, if you record over a clip that has automation dots, the dots from the original clip will still be there.

Hi there, when I import/download my project (only track region selected) all my audio files are "busy" and can't be played. Does someone know?
@IbandUK9 күн бұрын
@chrissycg Hi, usually audio tracks are labelled ed busy when they are being made ready to play in Cakewalk. This can happen when transient changes have been made and need to be applied but in your case, it sounds like Cakewalk is in the process of downloading the audio from the Bandlab cloud servers, so they will be labelled busy until the audio tracks have completed downloading. The number of audio tracks, the size of the audio tracks and how busy the Bandlab cloud servers are, will all affect how long it will talk for the tracks to be ready.

Your video is very good! Is it sophisticated (self) mastering tutorial without bandlab AI mastering?
@IbandUK12 күн бұрын
@inseoulkid202 Thanks 😀👍 The Bandlab mastering works quite well for people who do not have the skills to master themselves but learning to master your own songs against a reference track (without AI assistance), I think, is a useful skill to practice for every song writer. Which is why I created this video. 😀
@inseoulkid20211 күн бұрын
@IbandUK Thanks for letting me know I can't English well... If I were to summarize the content of the video, is it correct to understand that mastering is done by loading two tracks, slice and then comparing them? 3:34 What is the difference between the first and second sound sources?
@IbandUK11 күн бұрын
To master your song, download a song that is already on album or Spotify by an artist you want your song to sound like. Load this as your reference track. Then load your song. Then compare the 2 songs. Slicing is just my suggestion and is not required. I am not allowed to show you the song I used as a reference track because of copyright law, so I used a mastered version of the same song as my reference track.

Good idea but can you please explain why you don't have a subscription is it not worth it just want to know your thoughts on it thanks
@IbandUK12 күн бұрын
@Shades289 Thanks 😀👍 I think BandLab is a good app for recording song ideas on the go and for learning basic songwriting skills, all of which can be done without subscribing. So these are the things I teach on my channel. For musicians that are serious about songwriting and music production, I personally prefer to recommend investing in a computer and setting up a home recording studio. So I also teach how to use free DAW software (like Pro Tools Intro and Cakewalk) on my channel. While I'm sure some people think a BandLab subscription is worth having, I personally just simply have no requirement for anything the subscription would provide that I cannot already get access to.

@IbandUK13 күн бұрын
@rkrahulbadaik3968 Usually this is because the microphone can hear the music as well as the vocals. If you plug in some headphones into your phone and listen to the music through the headphones while recording your vocals, the microphone should not be able to hear the music and so only record your voice (unless the headphones volume is set too loud).
