I don't think CGI could make this simple scene any better. Camelot, and the Iliad are the greatest mythical epics in western civilization. They're both hauntingly alike in one respect. Both were recorded in what the current society's notions were, regarding ancient myths that could very well have taken place. The story of Arthur, and the knights of the round table may have taken place in the early medieval period. The story we all know, has late medieval imagery though. The Iliad takes place in bronze age Greece, yet the classical Greeks saw it as contemporaneous with their time. The power of myth can be passed down for literally eons by word of mouth, then in some time set to the permanent record keeping of the times. A people who may have generally lost that story, rediscover it in permanent record of the time, rightfully reclaim it as their own, and are thus unified more strongly. Long live Europe. That includes Ukraine, and Russia.

"The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest, shimmering sameite, held aloft Excalibur, from the bosom of the water, signifyiing by divine providence, that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur, THAT is why I am your King! Listen. Strange women, lying in ponds, distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony! Be quiet! Look. You can't expect to weild supreme executive power, just because some watery tart threw a sword at you! SHUT UP!!! If I went around saying I was an Emperor, because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away! SHUT UP, WILL YOU SHUT UP!!! Oh now we see the violence inherent in the system...." I love Excalibur, the finest mythic story ever put to film, but Monty Python makes me chuckle silently during this movie sometimes.

It WAS temporary solution as it can be seen. Watery tart only borrowed it and it was returned. In some variations it was Uther who was given Excalibur and he struck it in stone as well. Then Arthur took it.

You must bargain with the fae. Taking something as a gift from them leaves you at undefined debt to them. I wonder did Uther truly know what kind of deal he made? At least Parcival returning the blade ends the contract.

I always wanted to know in Wales what was the real King Arthur like ??..the day he die had to be a crazy day when he died.. in real life..
@nialloneill50974 ай бұрын
The real Arthur ruled in a higher plane...the lowest one above the earth. He fell due to his excessive pride...and so the other 12 Knights prayed for help...as his task was unique to him. This is when the highest King in Creation answered the call of mankind...his name was Parsifal. He is at the same time the Holy Spirit and Will of the Almighty. A Part of Him came all the way down to help the lower parts of creation which were suffering from Arthur's fall, and the general demise of the human spirits in these lower planes. Parsifal's coming is synonymous with a cleansing of the lower planes...the decay that is referred to in this film, and then a New King...for a New Kingdom...in the 1000 Years Kingdom....after men have been resurrected. This is a time when the best of earthmen can reincarnate a no of times to end their cycle in the temporal world, and as mature spirits, return to their goal...Paradise and eternal life. Before then...all that has been sown must be reaped, and since this is mostly wrong and evil...then we will soon fall into the terrifying events of the prophesied Apocalypse. After this, the earth will be cleansed and renewed to greet the improved human spirits in later incarnations. The Celts were very spiritual, some of them at least, and so some of the events on higher planes were relayed to them...but distorted by those who did not understand fully, or by those who did not wish men to be warned, for the darkness would destroy all men if it could...for there are some who have fallen too low to arise again. I sense there was an Arthurian type King at the time of the late 400s or 500s AD...and he has links to Glaston, some say he is buried there. All around the world peoples lay a claim to him...but he was never earthly. I guess in times of trouble, people like to call for a helper, and the possibility of a King Arthur is comforting...this happened in the Miners Strike too. Ironically, a miner at the time who silently went his own way during the Strike later found that he was to be the new king...as a representative of Parsifal...the rightful heir to all Creation. His time nears...as the karmic storms begin to increase, and once the main ones commence...there will be no holding them back...a time rightly described as Hell on Earth. The real King ...Parsifal is said to look like an angel with flaming eyes...silver and golden armour...and the Judgment Sword of Creation...He is at the same time...the Holy Spirit...and Holy Grail...for He is the Will of the Almighty Himself

No way this “music video” was made in 1982, it's so ahead of its time.
@michaelinparis50408 ай бұрын
It is a pity that the balance of the recording is lousy: the sound of the harpsichord is covered by the orchestra in most of its tutti. Also, the video should've provided the names of the conductor and of the orchestra. As to Chojnacka: I discovered her by chance, in a recital of music she gave in Paris in the early 1980s. She "converted" me to contemporary harpsichord music... I had the chance to hear her several times in other recitals but also in wonderful dance performances of choreographer Lucinda Childs (one of my all-time favorites) with whom she worked in the 1990s. I was also privileged to have met her and chatted with her. France was more than fortunate to have had two giants of harpsichord performance: Wanda Landowska and Elisabeth Chojnacka. The first one revived the harpsichord music of the past, the second one contributed to revive (contemporary) composition of music for harpsichord.

It is an adaptation and preserves the spirit of the original myth.
@lionelsteele0074 ай бұрын
Exactly. Early versions of this story consider Excalibur a completely different sword from the "sword in the stone". We're not even sure if Mordred was Arthur's enemy during the Battle of Camlann in the earlier texts! There's a lot of wiggle room for artistic license.
@nialloneill50974 ай бұрын
@@lionelsteele007 But there is only one truth. Parsifal is and has been the only King of Creation since its beginning. Later stories of Arthur referred to a King in a lower part of Creation...who fell in his duties...and so had to be replaced...Parsifal came to remedy the situations that related to his fall, and the general Fall of Man in the lower planes, symbolised by Adam and Eve, the White Buffalo Calf Woman Prophecy...and others. Mankind lost connection with the spiritual energies as his earthly brain became over developed...and his conceit in his own abilities multiplied. This led too all of men;s faults and false desires...and now he has a short time to redeem his karma...hence the Grail myth told of the decay of men and the earth...as we were cut off from the source of power...the Grail. All this was fundamentally true...and the coming Apocalypse will see these fetters cast off...as some men through the deepest suffering will liberate themselves...and begin to draw from the source of all power again, when a New Kingdom will be proclaimed, and a spiritual King will be the representative of Parsifal...who reigns supreme in Creation. Wagner perhaps came closest to the names, and Arthur was actually Amfortas...drop the tas...and dont say the m.

Interesting. Those look like piano scale keys and the whole harpsichord is taking a real pounding. Extraordinary technical facility.
@deanjorgenson5207 Жыл бұрын
Even though it is only strings, the harpsichord is buried under the orchestral forte. The piano would be more suitable, unfortunately.
@TheBaraneck7 ай бұрын
It is exactly the opposite. In this particular concerto, the soft sound of the piano would be lost under a thick layer of the orchestral tutti and wouldn't be able to break through. I once listened to this piece performed by a pianist and it was a huge disappointment. Here the disturbed balance between solo instrument and orchestra is purely due to the technical shortcomings of the recording. I can assure you that it sounds completely different live.
