Is the sound also possible with the Korg MS 20 Mini?

Absolutely, they sound identical to my ears

Excellent information! I have a Tascam DP-008EX Portastudio that I record with. (I am DAWLESS) Would you know if the Lyra-8 would be compatible with a Portastudio? Thank you.

What guitar do you play?

It's a Fender CN-60S. I love it...extremely affordable too. I happened to find it at a music shop I was teaching at a few years ago and was amazed by how well intonated it was, so I bought it. Now it's my go-to!

Just wondering did you turn the Pro-3's filter compensation off in this demo ? Otherwise it wont get as aggressive as it can

Very nice! impressive impro. I had mini and Behringer K2, now I have an original may be from '79 or '80, and any of them are pure magic. I agree with your 6 reasons, and I think that can be many more! thanks for share this, saludos desde Buenos Aires.

Thanks! It's noise running through the filter and I think a little audio mod

Does anyone ever use it with other instruments? Seems that it only plays with FX. I haven't heard of anyone using it with other synths, guitars or anything else. It certainly is a puzzle.

Loved the demo! Really shows the machine's character and your connection with it. Would make me buy one if I didn't already score a vintage one last week for a pretty good deal ❤ So much fun and refreshing to discover such a different approach in composing synth components and ways to interact with them, than what I'm used to in other synths :) And there is just something with old stuff that always gets me (so much that I was crazy enough to buy a house that was built before WW1 :P)

If these sounds were implemented into a DAW with the use of feedback loop & sidechain compression via buses this could have a Ben Frost feel all over it.

That awesome, I really like what you did here - an excellent KZbin post 👍 Tuning the Lyra-8. It's a simple and infinitely complex idea at the same time 🌝

Another thing I’ve noticed when arpeggiators is if playing in an odd time signature, you will always start and stop a phrase on the same note each measure
@jackmomma74812 ай бұрын
Interesting. It’s about time someone made a video on this. I have a little phatty, which has a built in arpeggiator, but a very basic and limited one If only random was an option for note order, that would be great a improvement

I feel like I should re-do my own MS-20 demo now…you made some really fantastic sounds here. Well done! Running the ms20 through a dummy huge reverb and making soundscapes like that is a blast.

This is a good video of the Lyra 8. Most vids the performer is "trying to play" the Lyra. That doesn't work. This unit is an organic entity. Interact with it gently/respectfully and you are rewarded.
@ourfinaldaysoffical29212 ай бұрын
Can you just plug this into an amp, to play live?
@Sound_ology2 ай бұрын
hell yeah, I'd recommend a bass amp though because the bass register is awesome. Make sure to turn down the Lyra's output so it doesn't overload the amp input too much though.

A synth with a keyboard would be a better way to be DAWless. The keyboard can be used to play music instead of the mechanical sounding output of a sequencer
@Sound_ology2 ай бұрын
Well not everybody has keyboard skills, or the time to develop them. Playing something like this with a keyboard would take a lot of time and dedication, even for relatively advanced players. I would say I played with Xynthesizr for a total of an hour before recording this video, then ended up with this on my second take. That just doesn't happen with a keyboard.

I know it’s crazy…normally I hate using my phone. And then this comes along and it’s pure magic…part of the reason I even tried it was thinking about how much time I’ve spent staring at a tiny Digitakt screen, or the screen of my Black Sequencer
