You can't play proper chess at 5 mins. World Championship matches are 4 or 5 hours for a reason. Also I wasn't sure if he was cheating by using both hands very quickly at the end. You should press the clock with the hand that moves the piece.

Karpov is the total antidote to Kasparov. He is a Russian gentleman. Calm, collected - no fuss or emotional dramatics. Also his style of play was crystal clear and positionally sound.

I feel like maxime is one of the best opponent against Magnus. He beat him in CCT, a few blitz tournaments like world blitz 2021,2023 and blitz tournaments in paris etc.

For anyone researching this more recently the KZbinr Art Vega posted to KZbin 58 videos from his twitch channel where he reads word for word my system. He has the board up on the screen and shows every move and line and with arrows to emphasize every comment the author says about each line as he is reading the book word for word. So my recommendation if your going to read this book would be to buy the physical book. Then place your smart phone or tablet right to the left (for right handed) of the page your reading. Then play the video at times two speed and follow along highlighting or taking active notes in the margin. For each page or each section write one note at the top of the page summarizing the key principle you learned for that section in a sentence but in your own words. Then transfer those notes at the end to note cards or at least to a one page bullet point summery of the key ideas referencing the book. Label the bullets buy the chapter and subsection. If it’s a real specific not that is from a single page put the page number as well. That note taking process will help dramatically when it comes to retention of the key ideas. If you have access to a photo copy Ed you might want to copy the diagrams onto not cards on reword the concepts in your own words on a note card with the diagram taped to it your referencing. Still want to put the chapter, section and pages. This book of fairly cheap so you could also just buy three copies and use two to cut and make note cards of each diagram before reading. And keep one copy to read. Each video on the KZbinrs account is about 30 minutes long and the last two or three minutes for each he sometimes talks about other stuff or is thanking his subscribers. So at times two speed your looking at around 12 hours if you skip at the end of the videos to the next one once he stops reading verbatim from the book. If you can download the videos the you tuber is reading you could probably play it faster than times two speed and be able to still follow along. The KZbinr has a very slow and clear speaking rate. So if you can figure out how to download the videos you could probably still understand them at times 3 speed and do the book in 8 hours. The last 30-40 precent of the videos are the 50 or so games at the back of the book. But if your strapped for time and you listen at the max KZbin setting of time two speed you should still be able to get through the main chapters in around 8 hours. If you can figure out how to download the videos your then looking at around 5 hours. If you try to read this book the old fashion way and do all the moves yourself it will take way longer. Several full 12 hour days at least. The only other point regarding this book, in case your not aware, is that there is a book that came out in 1999 called “Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy: Advances Since Nimzowitsch”. A lot of master level players critique my system saying that class players will actually learn more bad things from it and most of my systems ideas have been incorporated into modern positional play books. But then a lot of other masters say you should definitely read my system. This book is from around 25 years ago and is structured specifically where each chapters is a recap of a key idea from my system and then he gives an updated view on the issue with examples from games. Then he has several chapters on developments that weren’t mentioned like how it is much more common to sacrifices the exchange now than back then for example. But most importantly, for those that don’t have time to read two full books, and want to learn from my system without learning outdated ideas, the new book Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy has two pages of bullets in the back of the book in the conclusion chapter. He clearly recaps all the changes and improvements to theory in bullet points. Most you will already be familiar with If you have ever read another more genericly formatted modern strategy book. So I would just place that book open to the summary page while you read through my system help you read through it a little more critically than you would without refreshing yourself with that list. But the main chapters of Secrets of Modern Chess Strategy is one of those typical modern two columns of small text with lots of notation books that would take at least a week or two to read through. No one has read though one out yet and Secrets of modern chess strategy to KZbin yet that I am aware of. But having skimmed the book reading the first paragraph of each chapter and the bullets in the back I feel like this is one I can put on the back burner for a year or two until I find a good video series companion to go along with it.

Really enjoying a blessed peaceful day today. Delicious food, enjoyable chess, not getting attacked like some in this evil world: Glory to God most high. Everything we see was created by Him, and every good thing is a gift from God. Therefore chess is part of God’s creation. I know for sure Jesus Christ is the Son of God and despite satanic lies to the contrary, He is the only way to eternal life and salvation. Seek Him with everything you have while you can. You never know when you will breath your last and don’t want to find out too late. Hell is real!
