10:00 - Mickey Allen has driven (A Sprint) at the Shenington revival the last few years.

9:30 - I think A Senna said why he choked the carb so much. He worked out that he could run lean, and therefore have more power down the straight, if he cooled the engine by choking in the corners, where it did not matter. So he, basically, worked out a way of being faster!

I had a 1987 Gillard in 100 Britain, at the beginning of 1988. Think it was ex-Ivan Turner. Very sweet handling kart. I sold it to a friend with a wickedly fast Hewland that William (Hewland) had tuned for me. It transformed his performance... Still had it in 1990!

I had an 87, loved it, wished I hadn't wasted 2 years on Stratos and Zip! Bought an 88 the following year before going to cars. An even better chassis in 100B

12:50 - It was actually the K & S series for 100 National (which started the previous year). Wayne Homer was second, if I remember rightly! (At Tilbury) A great debut!

3:00 - I don't think it was such a bad thing, the UK market being so different. The weather is still unique. Also, our tracks vary. I ran the Minarelli chassis in 100 Britain at the end of 1990. It was not designed for the class. (Too stiff). It was hopeless at Clay Pigeon and Rowrah, but it was OK at Little Rissington.

Know the feeling. I bought my first kart in 1977, I think. A Zip Bluestreak chassis from Charlie Goff (for £50). Was in the garage for years. We used to get it out and push it around, dreaming of beating Jackie Brown at Blackbushe (not even sure he went there)! LOL Then, in 1979 I bought a Sprint / K77 from a friend. Needed rebuilding... In the end, I bought a couple TG14s and started in 100 Britain in 1980. 4 novice races, 4 weekends on the trot!

Charlie Goff! Now there's a name! I used to love over going to his house in Elstow - 5 Pear Tree View? What a character Charlie was, a legend of Kimbolton! Going over on an evening, picking up a motor, watching Roger tuning a Rotax 256 in the garage, almost invisible in a cloud of cigar smoke! Great times...

Angle of the steering hub is bogus. Steering wheel angle is like a bus. Very hard on wrists and arms. Bought an angled aftermarket hub to bring wheel down to where it should be.
@shooter7a3 ай бұрын
It is weird is you turn the wheel a lot...but good drivers hardly turn the wheel at all. Watch in kart video from any top driver.... When 11:00 to 1:00 is the range of wheel turn...the angled hub is just fine...

Does the timing cover need to be removed to change the starter motor? My starter motor went out (probably broken brush wires) and I'm having a heck of a time finding any instructions on removing just the starter motor from an assembled engine.
