Too much people still do upgrades via store even people my age so honestly pretty bad move
@dennisp852012 сағат бұрын
T-Mobile would be so stupid to do this. The clientele that shops in old school brick and mortar stores is different than the digital nomad. Plus, T-mobile should want to drive traffic into stores since that is an opportunity to secure additional revenue and ensure that a deal is locked down that moment. Especially when your goal is to sell on value instead of just raw cost

The stores are a ripoff. Received text messages saying I was eligible for a free phone upgrade. Went to the store, that 'free' Moto 5 5g would be $90. I laughed in the face of the owner of the face, told him I could get that phone from Boost on-line for $20 and $49 at Walmart. The stores are a joke.

@@rfwaves8794 yep. My KZbin TV subscription on the live TV is often 720p.
@dennisp8520Күн бұрын
I agree that 720P as a resolution is fine on a phone. My problem has been and will always be how that gets executed on with a hard video throttle of 5mbps. Verizon solved my mine issue I had with them when they released the unlimited ultimate plan. The difference between 5mbps and 10mbps on LTE is huge for streaming video that is optimized well. KZbin is an example of a very well optimized service to the point that it’s hard to know what resolution you’re even really watching since they support adaptive bit rates. Something like CrunchyRoll you don’t wanna mess around with. That being said, for this product/solution this is more than fair at the price. What I’m curious about is if video will be unthrottled on 5GUW like how unlimited plus is on the postpaid side

Tmobile killed off metro pcs when they bought it. that was the point was to DESTROY the cell phone industrys biggest competition there ever was. MetroPcs had grown into a giant. they had shops on every major street. the once shoddy coverage (from way back in the day when they first launched at $20 a phone plan) had expanded to reliable, nationwide coverage. do the simple math. you had a pre-pay phone company with excellent coverage and reasonably priced cell phones that began as low as $30! you had pre-paid phone plans that included UNLIMITED talk/text/data for $35 mo! no additional weird fine print fees, no gimmicks like cell phone companies continue to do to this very day. your phone bill was a flat $35 per line, period. when metro began to get the best and newest phones for pre-pay purchase AND accept any GSM phone transfers, the other companies were hurting. people didnt need the bs when it came to cell phones anymore. metro let them bring their phones and transfer for $15 registration fee and pay $35 per phone line. tmobile bought them out and IMMEDIATELY crushed all they were offering. first off- no more $35 phone plans. no more deals for current customers. their phone product line is crappy now. metropcs is gone. there is no advantage for any new customer signing up for metro by tmobile. the phone plans are sky high and MORE than you would pay for a contract phone plan with any other company. all the phones are over $150 and that is for crappiest of the crappy brands they offer. tmobile set out to do what they did. they destroyed their competitors by buying them out and cutting it off for customers. i was looking at tmobiles "sales". they say 4 FREE iphone 16 and 4 lines at $25 each for WELL QUALIFIED customers. that would be all those with a credit score of 800. everyone else will pay big fees for service including all their additional hidden fees inside the phone bills, the monthly cost of their cell phones with more addtional hidden fees tacked on to the cost of the phones (which are still truly worth about $50. none of them are worth the hundreds and, now, $1000+ they cost😮) its all a rip-off. i purchased my unlocked samsung s+ years ago for christmas. we have had the same metro pcs service for years so we still only pay a flat $30 per line. i remember when i bought the phone and called metro by tmobile to register it, the customer support rep tried to change our bill around to the more expensive plans. i caught it immediately in the automated text they sent and made her fix it which took much back and forth with her "supervisor" and placing me on hold repeatedly. she even tried to talk me into "upgrading" my phone plan. i told her there is no upgrade from unlimited talk/text/data for $30 a mo.

Honestly the idea of convergence is nothing new. That being said this is the first time that I’m excited about it in telco in a while since unlike back in the day where the convergence piece was trying to sling cable all of telco is trying to do home internet and cell service which were both arguably uncompetitive spaces. That being said, I really wanna see telco companies cut some of the nonsense and just double down on fiber and their wireless network deployments. For example, in the case of AT&T, while their wireless network is much better than it’s ever been, it’s feeling a bit stagnant again with the slowness in getting their N77 and DoD on air. This is important because in major metro markets like New York City carriers are still spectrum starved for the amount of traffic they need to support at any given time. I tested all the networks down there and similar to when I visited Vegas I was surprised by the turn of events. Verizon is the only one that reliably worked in all the places I went within Manhattan including the subways. AT&T performed the worst in the NYC and T-Mobile was alright for data speeds but had issues with coverage in certain parts which was shocking since I assumed all carriers would be thriving in a dense market like that In terms of the future I’m still optimistic about AT&T but it seems like right now all the carriers are dipping into old bad habits that waste resources

How about this for finally getting situated. Boost is issuing a NEW version of the Rainbow SIM to ALL customers -- or at least all customers with compatible devices. This is regardless of if you reside within Dish coverage or not. The new Rainbow SIMs are black with rainbow specs on them and the ICCID now starts with 89105 (instead of 89015). These SIMs apparently are "smart" SIMs and "should" automatically get you onto the network with the best signal (between Boost/ATT) -- you apparently still only get on TMO if, and only if, you fall completely outside the coverage of Boost/ATT. Now I did a tiny test, and the Rainbow SIM will apparently work on LTE devices that are whitelisted for ATT. (At least it connected.)
