its definitely fun for some people but i don't like the macho shit that much, even though the people are nice for the most part between the songs and sets. the screamo and skramz scene rn is where it's at for hardcore that's not like that

Probably licensing… Apple Music has nothing from any Level-Plane releases (at least that I’ve come across). Any stuff from their bands that is on AM, you’ll find the L-P content is always missing.

This is the best “skramz” band to ever exist. Back in the day that term wasn’t around and we called them post hardcore or screamo. They did everything right. I still have all of their vinyls tucked away safe, minus their split with A Satellite Crash, and the “brothers from another mother” split with Joshua Fit For Battle. Drummer even signed my hat.

i've never heard it matched. tool's rudiments and rolls aren't as full volume as this drummer. Pat Magrath's just different, hella abstract and very educated as well.

I wasn't involved when this stuff was going on, but it's strange to me that this band doesn't get mentioned as much as Orchid, Saetia, City of Caterpillar etc. They're probably my favorite fast/chaotic scremo band. So good.
@ryanb75813 жыл бұрын
Also kinda disappointing that their drummer went on to do really weaksauce metalcore bands after this, though, admittedly that mid-00s metalcore is super not my thing.
@HorkPorkler3 жыл бұрын
They're all soo different. Orchid is grindier and saetia is more "emo" (repetitive melodies) and dark. Caterpillar is melodic and more cadenced slowly.they really represent the "extremities" of this type of music. Neil Perry is great, but does nothing stand outish.
@Nero77133 жыл бұрын
@@HorkPorkler well put. I think I see Pg.99 talked about more than Caterpillar though, usually. They definitely have a lot of variety through their releases that show off a lot of the scope of the overall genre, I think
@ryanb75812 жыл бұрын
I hear you @@HorkPorkler. I more meant outside of screamo scenes--like a person whose into hardcore mentioning what screamo like they like. I feel like these two albums are definitely far more visible outside of screamo scenes where people would know enough to really draw distinctions? Could just be where I grew up tho.
@phantomsmile27332 жыл бұрын
The bands you mentioned are way more accessible imo. Orchid is just octave slamming which doesn't take much thinking to get into and Saetia has the melodrama of what the scenecore bands became so it is pretty familiar. Neil Perry drew from all the weirdo 90s emo and screamo with its quick transitions from heavy riffs to calm breather riffs. Some of their songs are long and then all of a sudden the next song is 30 seconds long. It can be hard to get into if you don't what to expect. Admittedly when I was new to screamo I loved saetia and thought Neil Perry was boring, but I think I just didn't get it. As for City of Catpillar, I think they are equally underrated tbh. Everyone knows the name because they were one of those early youtube screamo bands, but idk many people who actually talk about them much. And there's my blog post.
