Can you give me a second hand mellophone? I had a trumpet basic when I was high school. But I prefer mellophone sound. In here Thailand is very expensive I can't reach it.

The Kanstul Mellophone I used with The Bluecoats in 2002 was far and away the most frustrating instrument I have *ever* used. Invariably, I would be playing and the valves would just start spinning. Even after swapping out valve guides, both metal and nylon, the valves would start spinning. Also, every single horn in our hornline eventually had solder joints that would fail. I've never heard of that ever being an issue with any other manufacturer's horns.

Does the mellophone play in the bass or treble cleff? What key is it in?

I am actually sad they had to close up shop during the pandemic, my school bought some of the Model 200 3 valve marching tubas, and I am currently playing that one. It is a very good tuba, still trying to learn how to do a contra flip on it, I started the school year on a Yamaha Model 201 BBb marching tuba, and it was like 20 years old. R.I.P. to the legendary Kanstul brand. May they one day return and make the best brass instruments once more.

The ego of this dude is almost indescribable. Thousands spent on developing and building this tuba, and this is the pitch video? A subpar trumpet player attempting to play the tuba does not make a good marketing video for your product...

What an embarrassment! You’d think an operation like Kanstul would get a Tuba player out there to do the demonstration. Jack, that was pitiful.

Terence sounds really great on all of the horns, but I just cannot get over how very incorrect all the info mr. Jack said throughout. I feel so bad saying that, I'm sure Jack is a very nice fellow. But just to put my mind at ease, I must be an annoying smart-alec for a moment, please humor me while I state the correct information in contrast to the incorrect: "How is that compared to this one over here that's more like a Conn 8D, your traditional....?" -The model 330 (the silver Geyer horn) is absolutely nothing like a Conn 8D at all to begin with, it's also a Geyer wrap horn, and looks like an identical copy of the F.E. Olds nickel-silver Geyer. Terence said it has more resistance than the 335, which makes a lot of sense, even further proving how unlike an 8D it is. An 8D would have significantly less resistance and take a lot more air, and have a much thicker darker sound, which the 330 certainly did not. "This horn (the 330) is more like what the Americans play, the Geyer (335) is more like what the europeans play." -The Geyer wrap horn not only originated here in America, but is probably the most popular horn amongst orchestral players in the U.S. Of course the Knopf on which the Geyer is based did originate in Germany, but the Geyer is in the end a very different instrument, and an American one at that. What is the most popular horn in Europe? Probably Alexander, most notably the 103, not even remotely like a Geyer. In response to "feels like a French horn" he says "sounds like a French horn!" -It certainly does not, at least in my opinion. It sounds much more like a baritone or a euphonium, and don't get me wrong, it sounds great, but it doesn't sound like a horn, it's a different beast. Okay, so sorry to be that guy, but I had to get it out of my system, all done now. I hope you're having a great day!

4:30 You may eventually reintroduce the 275 Marching Alto Horn in the Future cause it's really big in versatility. I was thinking of making a version w/ Rotary Valves

I saw the Kanstul Mellophonium Circular Mellophone & was kind of number model was it?
@RockStarOscarStern6342 жыл бұрын
It's basically a Marching Alto Horn. It's more like an Alto Trumpet which is great for playing the old repertoire that calls for it. The 275 was indeed the True Marching Alto Horn & I think you should make those Horns again (as well as bring back all the Discontinued models) cause more people wanna play these instruments again.

I’d say it’s more like an alto flugelhorn than an alto trumpet
@RockStarOscarStern634 Жыл бұрын
@@grey878 Yeah the Mellophone is actually an F Alto Flugelhorn because it's mostly conical. What if they also had a Rotary Valve version? They make rotary Valve trumpets so why not rotary Valve mellophones?

@UCbJ0gyWBfKAWQNfHd9DTbGQ Jazzy, these instruments would be great for Dixieland Jazz too. That Bb Marching French Horn sounds basically like a Valve Trombone, love Duke Ellington.

Dunno why but Kanstul can't seem to make good "background brass". eBay is flooded with old Olds french horns no one wants, and the new Kanstuls don't strike me as being much better. Kanstul's alto/tenor/Eb horns are another example.

I just got this horn in a brushed finish,. Warm and buttery sound in low register with steady air. When you step on the gas, it will spit fire and peel paint! The response is immediate and notes above high C slot easily. The instrument is both resonant and well in tune if paired with a mouthpiece with the correct gap. I love my Stomvi Mouthpiece as it has different couplers allowing you to change the mouthpiece gap. I also like playing the Stomvi S3 Big Bell trumpet too. For the Stomvi, the 3.5 coupler is the best for me, With the Kanstul 1500, the 4 coupler is better in tune and most resonant.
