Of course, not all photos are SOOC! Most are at least slightly processed, but only with old and deprecated program Picasa. I also have LR and PS, but if photo can't be "put it in order" in simple program as Picasa is, I don't publish it. I know that there are many better cameras than the Olympus TG-5 (I currently have a TG-6 already), but back in 2004 I decided to shoot underwater only with compact underwater cameras with no extra underwater housing, without weights, with no additional lighting and solely during snorkeling and freediving with the current best compact underwater camera (I do not use cameras during SCUBA diving!) . Because I record videos only in fullHD (medium quality), I know they would be better if I shot them in full quality or even in 4K. Anyway, I'll stay with the compact underwater cameras without the extra UW housing. In early September, I was back in Egypt, this time with the TG-6 (recordings will be available shortly) and I plan another Egypt vacation in November. PS: I also have a GoPro camera, but this is just a video camera and is practically useless for underwater photography. And if I choose 4K recording with the TG-6, the video quality is no worse than that of the GP. However, you have to consider that during freediving without weights, it is extremely difficult to make the camera still, since it is always necessary to compensate for buoyancy and underwater currents with the other hand and with the feet, while still following the subject of the recording. If you're just a SCUBA diver, you can't imagine how hard it is.

@@PrimozP I know it's a compromise between several factors. IMO choosing 4k would be better for higher bitrate (2x). To eliminate wobble (IS off) left handed grip would give you freedom and stability if you stick with a compact. Just a thought. Anyway, your results are spectacular. Pleasure to watch. 👌

Absolutely, TG-5 is way better (it has 4K video recording, RAW, many manual settings, faster lenses, ...!), but with it I can dive only 15 meters deep. AW130 less capable than TG-5, but I can (free)dive as much as 30 meters deep with it. So ...

@bryce This is not about artistic expression, but the easiest and the fastest way to show to family and friends what I am doing when I am (25+ times) in Egypt. I have all the photos and movies posted on www.flickr.com/primozp/sets, where they can be viewed at any time. On the YT is just a short preview. At 8:50 I am "down" at the turtle with the TG-5, and my wife (at the same time) on the surface with the AW130. Every time I notice something interesting at a greater depths, me and my wife swap cameras, and when I return to the surface we swap them again.

Sadly, there is no correct answer! My experience after I tested (almost) all compact UW cameras: -FT5 produces best movies, very good UW photos and it has excellent OIS, a lot of scene modes and very good automatic choice between them, not the best for macro photography -Olympus cameras produces awful movies, has very fast optics, but poor firmware is not capable to exploit it -Nikon AW1xx is somewhere in the middle: very good photos, acceptable movies, good for macro photography. The new AW130 is also capable to go 30 meters deep. -Canon D30 produces movies, acceptable photos and it has poor firmware (only few scene modes and very poor automatic choice between them) In short: if you want very good movies, buy FT5 or FT6 in other case take Nikon AW120 or AW130. Olympus for me is not an option!

With Olys I only have bad experience! Panis has much more effective underwater mode than other compact UW cameras. In june I am planning to test new Canon UW camera, D30 (25 meters depth restriction, but slow optics) in Egypt.So, ... :)Primoz

I think it is normal. Just for testing purposes turn OFF the "continuous autofocus". Your camera should become silent.

Žal, FT5 in vsi ostali FT in TS aparati ne omogočajo zajemanja fotk med snemanjem filmov. Glede superiornosti se bomo pa težko uskladili. Lahko pa naštejem nekaj dejstev: Nikon nikoli ni naredil dobrega žepnega kompakta, Pentax je do modela W60 delal najboljše podvodne kompakte (imel sem prav vse www.flickr.com/photos/primozp/sets/72157633756660405/), potem pa je nastopil Panasonic s FT1 in dileme ni bilo več, saj je imel optično stabilizacijo in to odlično, Olympus je imel "na papirju" vedno najboljše podvodne kompakte, vsi ki sem jih imel ali preizkusil, pa so me razočarali - njanovejši z F2.0 verjetno imajo prednosti, vendar pa pod vodo avtomatika nikoli ne izbere F2.0, Panasoniki po tehničnih specifikacijah niso nikoli v vrhu, vendar pa imajo po mojih merilih najboljšo avtomatiko, ki se praktično nikoli ne zmoti (ko si pri prostem potapljanju na globini 10+ metrov, namreč nimaš prava veliko časa za nastavitve). Na suhem so verjetno vse štiri kamere zele enakovredne, vsaka s svojimi prednostmi in slabostmi, pod vodo (mene predvsem zanima le ta del funkcionalnosti!) pa (zaenkrat!) FT5 nima konkurence. lp Primož

Za lanski dopust v Egiptu sem si sposodil nek starejši model Olympsa(mislim da je bil 8000), pa sem bil z rezultati delno zadovoljen, zdaj pa gledam, da bi nabavil nekaj, pa da ne rabim skrbet za čistočo in kam se ga odloži. Mal me samo moti slabo zastopstvo Panasonica pr nas, že dobit ga je skor nemogoče(pač ostane tujina). Bom probal dobit Nikona , da bi ga sprobal, pol se bomo pa odločil. Matej Ovniček Za nakup Panasonika po telefonu kontaktiraj oskarveliki.si/ , pa ga dobiš po konkurenčni ceni s slovensko dvoletno garancijo. Res pa je, da je AW110 v vsakem primeru vsaj 50 EUR cenejši. Sicer pa v SLO Panasonike zastopa, prodaja in servisira firma RAM2.
