This video helped me come to terms with and understand why I had such a hard time in school and constantly failed math. At 41 years old and beginning to learn electronics, I am able to grasp the math. Somewhere between this and being able to use ChatGPT to explain the equations using associative examples via analogies, I am able to grasp concepts that seemed impossible before. I even seem to be learning the math AD HOC, so also a non linear style. I think some of it is age related as well. I've been absorbing a lot of random information over the last 3+ decades to associate with. It's hard not to feel a bit salty that no one in my life realized this...better late than never I suppose. Most underrated KZbinr video ever.

Hello Dan, I really liked the question. I believe I will need hours to think about it and more hours to explain it. The idea of the book is wonderful, but in short, what I desperately need is inner peace. I want to achieve all my dreams, but at the same time, I want it to happen calmly and peacefully. I really don’t know how that will happen, as achieving dreams often comes with anxiety and stress.

Great discussion. Your Retirement Trick tool is fantastic and a lodestone of my life. I am past age 67 and still operating with your 25-year planning horizon. I've written a book on this topic, "Thrive in Your 3rd Third: Stories of those who've led the way". The book outlines 30 stories of people who chose to work or actively volunteer past the age of 67. The oldest two were both entrepreneurs. Jack Weil, the founder of Denver's Rockmount Ranch Wear, worked to age 107. Rose Blumkin, the founder of Nebraska Furniture Mart, worked to 103.

I’m debating what is more ludicrous/meretricious… Mr Holliday’s glue-on/panel van mustache or his disgustingly usurped backstory. Erick was working at Enterprise Rent-a-Car in 1999/2000. Terrorists flying passenger jets into the twin towers had absolutely no relation to his apocryphal and shameless appropriation here. He in no way owned or operated anything at that point in time- matter of public record. Shame on you, Erick.. get back to enjoying your junk mail, dork.

Great podcast & book. I'm revisiting this after years of reading it. I will say, I've observed the same thing in regards to fitness. If I don't workout daily & in the morning I enter a very foggy, neurotic, and unhappy headspace. I suspect this is less to do with ADHD, though...and I also suspect more people experience this background mental discomposure but are unaware because they never experienced the clarity & power of working out daily & intensely. Many, many... people walk around with a more negative/neurotic headspace than they realize because they haven't discovered the need of physical exertment. It's just that they have no basis to compare a positive headspace since they never included a consistent workout routine in their habits. Many people will go their entire lives never experiencing this increased clarity and unconscious background happiness from a workout routine. It is quite tragic. There also seems to be a threshold with fitness where we only start to reap the mental benefits after daily, continued participation - it needs to "click" before our bodies recognize that this is what it needs for a more lucid and productive day. Also, as people age, it's easy to forget the importance of general, low-grade euphoria of being in good physical condition. It's a very meta concept that is difficult for most to grasp - but there absolutely is a bodily sensation from being fit that gives us a momentum to be more productive/content elsewhere. Week by week, month by month, year by year, we slowly become more unhealthy as our social life and office jobs enable us to slowly forget the physical sensation of being in good condition. But..what's the benefit if we are looking at a computer all day? It becomes easier and easier to exist throughout the day with a slight dysphoria and seek out euphoria from small things like a big lunch at work or daily Advil - perhaps copious amounts of caffeine that will lead someone to a brain fog by the end of the day, maybe even short form social media content (a common problem in people with "ADHD"). There is no obvious immediate need to be healthy in that environment - connections between fitness and mental headspace are easily neglected unless this association is made in young adulthood and maintained. It is an existential requirement for us to be physically fit, but once again, it's an easily forgotten concept unless it's continuously reinforced - as you said, "we are hunters in a farming world" (brilliant quote). Then, fast forward a couple years - 20 pounds heavier, no daily norepinephrine (intense workouts) to stimulate acetylcholine, shifts in brain chemistry - our mind-body connections become less in tune with themselves and our mental headspace degrades. It's avoidable with a strict routine. We see it all the time in older people who have realized this early on. 70 years old, daily gym, and sharp as obsidian. Usually these people also understand the importance of healthy microbiome as well - but that's a different rabbit hole. Just my experience, at least. P.S. I will say that I think the medical industry does an incredible disservice by diagnosing ADHD. In my humble opinion, I dont think it is at all a Disorder - something that Peter probably agrees with. But I will go further and say that I believe the "symptoms" to be personality traits. Parents will have a better framework to help their kids if they perceive it this way. Its all habits and healthy coping mechanisms. On that note, it's needed for Peter to describe the book in terms of ADHD for the wider audience to get his point across. So I get it. I hope Peter reads this! Thank you for the knowledge!
