Is there way to get the IC R30 to automatically detect different modes in a scan, so if it stops on a particular bit of the band it can self detect whether its an AM FM SSB signal??? I was told it will do this but so far I have no proof,and cant yet find a set to try it on, still looking for one in the UK.

This sounds so nostalgic to me, when I was living in Bulgaria we used to receive there the Proto programma station. In this city Varna there was a huge Greek community living there for centuries, including my own family, orginating in Thessaloniki… Cheers! PS, I tried the small external AM antenna on the tecsun pl330 and it worsens the reception compared to the inbuilt antenna.

Will this work for my Whistler ws1040 scanner too? I like to scan the 25-30 MHz freeband range while outside. How long is the whip by the way?

Wow impressive. You can hear the electrical noise from being inside but it makes it very weak that you can pull in strong audio on the low power ham stations. Really impressive.

On my Chinese copy Pre amp display is inverted, ie, On is actually off , and Off is actually on, and half the memorys do not work. I set pre amp to activate( ie OFF as it always is activated when you turn on), and RF gain between 0 and 5, after much testing on a 20mtr wire with 9 to 1 balun. The radio which is totally unfinished radio, receives GREAT, better than my Icom 756 PRO!

@ Sorry, I have looked and can not find my purchase on ebay. It is under the name "Malachite" SDR. Its a chinese copy of a Russian "malachite" (the original). Two types of reception are available, one with all the shortwave frequencies, and another with more frequencies UHF as well which is more expensive. One thing using 20meter wire antenna it soon gets overloaded with near frequencies. The touchscreen for bands is good , but the touch screen for frequency input is useless as you can not just change by full KHZ and you end up having to press the screen to select full KHZ settings again, just use the Knob that allows 1 khz spacing.

Whats the purpose of 1Hz modulation, when 1Hz can be heard by human hearing ? maybe you try to transmitt 1Hz radio frequency ? how far would that 1Hz go ?

If you were to pay $50 for the optional antenna and $50+ for the Tecsun, you'd have $100 invested. For that amount or less look for a GE SuperRadio I or II. A unit is good conditions provides much better sound and weak signal reception. Purchased an excellent SuperRadio II for $90 delivered.

The ferrite antenna is feeding of the loop antenna, really stupid to have them so close, this is not a good comparison

maybe that was th point. I do this with my radio. either one alone would work, both coupled will sometimes work. I've coupled 3 loops before.

Μπορείς να κάνεις αποδιαμόρφωση μέσω της κάρτας ήχου και όποιου προγράμματος θέλεις. Σε μερικές περιπτώσεις με λίγο καλύτερες επιδόσεις από το 7000 μόνο του.

Although it is time consuming I know, I wish you would put out an instructional video in the AOR 8200 MK3. I think it would help bring more folks into this radio. I have had it for years and still dont know how to use it fully. I would even pay for an instructional DVD.

just picked up one of these antennas off ebay with the accompanying support stand, love my little gp-5 its a great little radio for those hot nights when you want to sit outside and listen to talk

No such thing as GP-5. Overprice rebrand. This is overprice junk too and good way to damage you antenna jack.
