Thanks for making this video! I've been looking into getting this to use with my 8.5-yr-old daughter, so your video is perfect! A couple questions: Since I plan on doing it with my daughter, is the parent companion necessary or could I just buy the student book? Also, do you think I should go ahead and buy all 3 levels so that I'll have them, or should I just buy level 1? Thanks!
@PearlsAndOak9 күн бұрын
@@adamerinstone2087 I’m so glad you found it helpful! The Teachers Companion isn’t necessary if doing the student book together, in my opinion. You could definitely go ahead and buy all 3 depending on how quickly you think you’ll move into the next levels.

Interesting you post this now. I finally got my curriculum picks for main subjects and am already a tired, feel behind 34 week preggo. I went to double side print on the exact Model you have and nope! Jamming every time, it has to feed back into the computer. At first the was running but not printing well on the flip side, but we'll for the first page that feeds in from the top. Everything is jamming now, I have so much to print and am so frustrated that I don't even want to go back and touch it right now. Lol. Thanks for posting this video. Any tips for jamming?

Printers have got to be one of the most frustrating things ever. I saw a meme the other day of a book and it said the printer that just worked and other fairy tales. 😆 I just got a canon mega tank. It was definitely some frustration figuring it out but once I did I haven’t had any issues. But I’ve only printed 2 EIW student books so far. And I don’t like that I have to use the canon app to print and keep it open on my phone therefore taking up my phone for the duration of the printing job.
@ashleymorris12Ай бұрын
A major point that I never see talked about is when the printer reaches its end of life span on the waste ink pad/box which is an inevitable occurrence. I started out with the exact same model you have and after 3 years of printing, and many thousands of page, my printer would no longer work. I received the "ink pad end of service life" error message on my printer and did some research on how to resolve it. When you clean your print heads, the ink that is flushed through the heads is dumped into a small plastic box filled with sponges located behind a removable panel on the back right of the printer. Once you print a certain number of pages and those sponges are filled to capacity, your printer will no longer work until you BOTH 1) clean the sponges and 2) reset the internal page counter back to zero. While you can technically remove the plastic box containing the sponges and clean and replace them, the internal page counter reset is MUCH trickier. If you google hard enough, you can find the one time work around for resetting the internal page counter, but it only lasts for a few more thousand pages. Once you reach that point, whether the waste ink box is full or not, your printer again stops working. With the model you have, the only option is to send your printer back in to Epson for a reset or pay for an Epson tech to come to your house to reset the printer. It's truly just a string of letters and numbers fed into the software which resets the counter, but it's not something you can find anywhere. I went through all of this and at the end had to get a new printer. I opted for a 3000 series model which is made with a removeable and replaceable maintenance box that comes complete with a chip that will reset the internal page counter so that my printer should conceivably never stop working. This is not anything I hear talked about so every time I can, I share this knowledge.

How do you choose your daughter’s assigned independent readers? I’ve been in search of a book list based on reading levels. I know many curricula have their own readers, but I’m wanting books I can check out from our local library. I’m just having a hard time deciding what books to ask of my oldest to read. Since the inventory was constantly changing I was afraid of missing out on the good ones. And made way too many orders to keep up with reading. 😂 I took a good long break too. Although I do find read alouds enjoyable I have found it tricky for my family to stay engaged listening. I found the best way for us was to snuggle and read at bedtime.
