I do love Caribbean, but there are a few bug bears for me. The interior layouts are nah. They all just repeat. I love the main deck layout of the riv platinum 40, I think that works. Something that should be looked at. I think if you have a boat that you spend time on, TV is going to be a focus, I don't want a table in front of me! Couch is useless to watch TV or get stiff neck. Do we still want a pullman berth? Below decks are great, stern/aft is great. They just need to get their ergonomics sorted. I'd still buy a 35 tomorrow if I had the coin. 49 just looks too top heavy with hard top, should have come with an open option. That would be a great boat if they read the above and fixed stuff.

Amazing looking at sails shapes compared to today. The mast then has minimal flex

Your favorite word seems to be "despise" as in the NYYC despised everything Aussie, that Romagna despised Lexcen, that Olin Stephens despised Alan Payne etc .... Truthfully, I never got the sense that the NYC and its minions despised anybody or anything. NYYC did want to ensure a basically fair fight, but on its own terms, and it had the right to do so. IMO the NYYC was an essentially benign arbiter; but that it could never be disinterested -- which is to be expected. So 1970 was not a "debacle" just because Gretel got caught barging, on tape for the world to see. And when it became apparent that the Brit Chance's Intrepid and Valiant were way too heavy and with control flaws, then yes, Gretel 2's lighter fighting weight pointed the way to Courageous. Nothing nefarious on Olin's part in seeing the writing on the wall. I hope you address the Australia 2 situation, meaning the lingering suspicion that Lexcen was aided by Dutch design engineers in violation of the Deed of Gift. I was in Newport in 1983 on a 12 (not in competition) and at the time was partial to Australia's brilliant and fast design. In my wisdom I now am inclined that the America's Cup would be in a far better place today had Australia not lifted the Cup in 1983 (I despise the foiling cats).

Also, as I watch your presentation further, I lived just down the street from Derecktor's in Mamaroneck NY as a teenager. Mariner was clearly not a breakthrough design in any regard; merely an attempt to fool the water with hydrodynamic sleight of hand.

Great to finally see some more of the opening video briefing for the story. I've tired to piece together the on-ride narration from different clips on KZbin. Never thought I'd be lucky enough to find some here of the pre-ride! Thank you so much. The Bermuda Triangle is a cherished memory of mine. Glad so many others loved it too.

Nice video. The 'Australian Greens' have never been in government so they don't get to close stuff down. Also its a heritage hydro power station, about as green as it gets, why would they want to close it down?. On the contrary its getting an upgrade as part of the battery of the nation project in the next few years thanks only to its green credentials. But anyway.

Well 7 months ago got my 1989 range rover county, and have seen very little rust on the chasis or on the body... engine is in good condition, fixing the interior, undercoating on the belly, sound deadning on the interior to make the car last a few more decades. Only 1 complain, THERES GOTTA BE MORE MECHANICS for these classic cars in my country haha.

I don't believe either of these pussies would ever take it off road. Though the one seems slimy enough to be a car salesman in real life... I would have cast the commercial very differently. More Bond. Less Mr. Bean.

I loved my 1978 I used it as a daily drive and for trials, marshalling at off road events and as a recovery vehicle for our excavator fleet. Never did it let me down the engine ran for over 150,000 miles of heavy right foot the engine unfortunately died due to the ex wife not checking the oil.

driving thorugh water that deep would have destroyed those vehicles, imagine the drivers being told to retain composure as a foot of water sloshed around their legs, those carpets are still wet now., as they lie within a rusty hulk of a Range Rover with no floors being engulfed by nature in a farmer's field.
