just saying, i have a bearded dragon myself, and thus breaks my heart when people buy them just to do so and don’t do their research. i would recommend to immediately change out the enclosure and mostly EVERYTHING except for the bowls and maybe some decor. they REALLY need a LONG STRIP UVB light that covers most of the enclosure. if they don’t have it, they cannot absorb calcium, which can lead to a calcium deficiency, and or MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease) which makes its bones REALLY brittle which makes them easy to break, especially since they like running around. also, THE CARPET. it can rip out their nails or even FINGERS in severe cases. same thing with any hammocks. make sure to keep the humidity at 40% or under. a water bowl sitting in there will raise the humidity. bugs they eat that are good are crickets, dubia roaches, and more, but mealworms, super worms, hornworms, and even more are TREATS. PLEASE DO NOT FEED ANY BUGS FROM OUTSIDE. they can have parasites or bacteria that can kill your beardie or make it really sick which can be very costly. also make sure to give it salad, but avoid spinach, iceberg lettuce, citrus, onions, and more. do your research PLEASE!!! i cannot stress it enough. what i said about them is the BARE MINIMUM of what you need to know. again, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!

Okay while this video was about 4 years ago I feel the need to address the fact that getting a bearded dragon (an exotic animal) at that young of an age is not okay. The tank you got (I think a 20 gallon) will need to be upgraded. It’s unfortunate that the Petsmarts Worker knew a lot (a few things wrong) but differently do ur research. And the mom said they got some sort of animal and it got to big so they let it “ go into wild “ wrong! bad!

1.)NEVER USE THE CARPET!!! It could rip out the nails of the dragon 2.) The kits they give you is literally a torture chamber for the animal. The lights aren’t strong enough to heat up the dragon 3.) Don’t listen to pet smart and/or petco employees. They don’t know anything 4.) The minimum size for an adult beardy is 120 gallons or 4ft long 2ft deep and 2ft tall. It is best to get the bigger size so you don’t have to get a new cage. 4.) I do not recommend buying any pet from a pet smart/ petco. They don’t know anything about any of their animals. I feel so bad for the bearded dragon. It was given to people that have no idea anything about the animal. PLEASE DO MORE RESEARCH!!!

Carpet it a no because it can cut off little fingers from loose fibers, and I’m pretty sure the terrarium should be set up and pre heated and all that before bringing a beardie home
