I was intrigued that I couldn't find anywhere called 'Verney' anywhere near to the station. I later discovered that this is because the station was named after a local landowner from whom the railway purchased the land.

The hotel had a door directly onto the platform as I remember. A local resident told us the track was ripped up with indecent haste. There was no time for any heritage groups to see if it was possible to take it over. They couldn’t believe how quickly the track was gone. The countryside is stunning. Tourists and rail enthusiasts would flock there today.

Back in the early 80s there was evidence of the link to Bluebell Line on the left of Lewes Station. I don’t know if it’s still there but there was a builders yard with parking area which partially covered where the trackbed would have been. Unless someone has stolen it there was an old southern railway sign.

Well according too the envilomentalists this old line called the vasity line is the inconvenience. They have been mislead and they are claiming this is the Hs2 route. This has all come about as Hs2 contractors are doing the interface preparation works up too the Queen Catherine level crossing in steeple Claydon. The animosity there has been recently for a railway line which will have not much Implications on the migration of habitats and adverse effects on the ecolgy where the route is going which is soon too be reinstated. Most of the vegetation clearance happening which isn't ancient woodland just too be clear in that, has grown up since the railway was mothballed and closed in 1993 too all traffic. Where east west rail is going through will be in the legal land boundary that at the moment a few activists are taking acception too under the misconception that its descrating the countryside. The east west rail project has been in planning for 25 years of extensive and espensive work just too make everyone satisfied, the amount of hours and years of dedication from the designers and engineers too get too this point, through all of the ecological works that have been tirelessly assessed and all the migration works and balancing ponds put in place , it shows there is meaning too this project it hasn't just been thrown together . This east west rail company have a knowhow in this scheme working under a alliance of contractors with the public at mind for our reassurance that they will deliver which im confident they will. Those few in society who appose the Hs2 project then that is understandable, you should not be held accountable for you beliefs and views, It is about making you aware too all those who appose Hs2 the east west railway has had years of planning and support behind it. The inconvenience would be too see such a stragic fundamental railway line have too be delayed for a futher few years just as it getting off into fruition. Can this have more commitments on please for they dont have the whole say on this matter i'm not beeing undermining or rude with the envilomentalists. If anyone has a deep sense of loyalty or compassion for this project as a few have let youre infant wisdom unite a productive response for this East west rail cause . i feel passionate and confident too speak up for the relevant projects even though i know the implications what might come for saying this, for saying this . i hear time and time again though the social media and tabloids and news channels of the animosity and hostility coming about from the recent vegetation clearance that have stated now near the old level crossing on the Queen Catherine Road & Rosehill farm in steeple Claydon . Sure it is understandable that they dont want the desicration the envilomentalists and extion rebellion and friends of the earth but what i can see is they are clearing the old line in its boundary. It has always been railway land since it was first built and most of the lineside vegetation that is beeing cleared im afraid Is because it is too be a new 100 mainline linking Oxford too milton Keynes and Bedford. I feel Very aggrevited that they are disrupting this project. Hs2 is the inconvenience not east west rail it a shame Hs2 is doing this work undermining and given this section of route 2b of this east west rail phase 2 such a bad repetition. Its like i say much more needs too be said of this new line for those who are in a mindset for it and are routing for its reopening. I knew there would be controversy when Hs2 came into do the preparation works as before then, its interesting how knowone minded vegetation clearance near the old level crossing in 2014 at Steeple Claydon on the vasity line then. It was up too the arrival of Hs2 in the area that riled up the multidudes im afraid and on this video like you have seen works have began on this section recently since this was recorded. At the start of February 2020 to recently network rail and volker rail have been clearing the foliage from the tracks and embankment and cuttings on the lineside from steeple Claydon to Winslow Swanbourne up too the Bletchley flyover work . It is much appreciated for this insight and presentation about the vasity line it is very useful and shows how responsible and sustainable this project is for they are reusing the current railway wivout obliterating everything in it path . I know all the focus is on the negatives even though this railway line isn't anything too do with the high speed 2 line and if extinction rebellion keeps on disrupting this line future and keep at it as they are doing this railway line will be put on hold. It is the reality of the situation, for sure even if it has got government support and support from every agency and all it will be in doubt due to the surplus of persistence of these protesters. what they are doing is there choice and there rights of course all of the activists but they need too be more aware, that there is much more emphasis for this railway. From this year definitive permissions from all partys have given in February of this year for east west rail to be constructed. Once again i will reiterate it has come too fruition all this negatively, this because Hs2 contractors have given this project a bad name. It is there contractors true who are doing the devegitatation works at the side of the east west rail near rosehill farm , when it for east west rail too do these works . It was there incentive and persistence Hs2 too do this work as they know no limitations to thier insanity. Hs2 offered east west rail the chance to do this interface and Hs2 as a big company got there way. That is why they are there activating, even though the real desicration is happing in twford calvert Quainton it amazing how not one of these places are being posted about or shared on social media. It is just about works happening near rose Hill farm and how the Hs2 route is apparently going through there up towards the old level crossing in steeple Claydon. It won't be of any suprise when the protesters take it in themselves too venture further afield too Verney Junction or Winslow and say Hs2 is destroying there. Im hopefully they understand by then these works are legal but like i say give these activists some insight as locals about the truth happening of how Hs2 is destroying everything and if anyone asks say there is a perfect legal line in east west rail which is also running through steeple Claydon which isn't too impacting. Many are undermining east west rail everywhere and everyday on the save the countryside campaign page on Facebook. They are berating it and everything about it not knowing it is too do with east west rail causing it too be delayed futher. What i will say is they have there own opinions and they are beeing productive as it is true Hs2 isnt beeing coherent but east west rail unlike Hs2 have been doing the necessary consortiums all along the route. It is at the moment due to covid-19 this hasn't been happening since February 2020. i do hope all can have a reasurance that this is a positive rail scheme . im sure it can be resolved as this area has been waiting for a meaningful project which east west rail will be. Lets hope it can be sorted otherwise 25 years has been wasted.
