It is so sad watching this. My first time there was in 1993 when it was still called "Hotel Guitard" . It was only open for 6 months that November and I was lucky to experience the official opening by Fidel Castro in person. There were many other trips following in spite of the long way from Germany.

It is so sad to see the great Colonial in this condition. It was a shock to realize that the Hemingway beach bar was completely gone. I hope the message I saw a short while ago was correct about it re-opening January 2025. Can't wait to go back.

Whoever downvoted this is a moron. I visited this place back before it was demolished and it was a true horror show... there were shock therapy rooms, crematoriums, etdc, including file cabinets with patient records telling of the shock therapy and other fucked up shit people went through at this place.... it was a maze and was incredibly fun to explore but a very sad sad human history here
