I’m currently a degree apprentice and am excited to get into the industry. What kind of salary can I expect?

@@oliverreiss5803I started as an assistant QS and have seen it ranges from £22k to £32k. I’d imagine as a trainee or graduate QS it’s going to be around the lower £20k

@@oliverreiss5803 Don't worry about the money when you are starting off, always ask questions and ask to help out and see extra projects, the experience you gain is what has value so focus on getting as much as possible once you are 5 years in evaluate what your making and think about asking for a pay rise or looking for a job with your ideal salary expectation.

Some QS jobs may require the person to travel to different construction sites but some QS roles could predominantly be office based!

Thanks for your comment. We just want to clarify that we never stated hot-rolled is "stronger". We did state that cold rolled is more brittle. Cold-rolled steel is less ductile: The increased strength from cold rolling comes at the expense of ductility. Structural applications often require materials that can deform under stress (e.g., during earthquakes or heavy loads) without cracking. Hot-rolled steel's ductility makes it better suited for these situations.

You don't "HAVE" to be knowledgeable in mathematics but it is very useful for the job. Competent IT skills are vital however. The computer can do a lot of the maths for you.

It’s certainly possible to move between roles. From experience I find that people have an easier time moving from contractor to client, than from client to contractor.
