First fly rod was a Martin starter kit for $38 at a sporting goods store. Caught some small bass, bream, and my first trout on a wooly bugger i tied myself. It has since been retired(tip broke), but i still have it.

I have never even thought to use a bobber on my fly rod 😳😳 - what a great idea! Love my fly rod - can’t wait to dig into your content for more tips and techniques. Great video!

Used bobbers for nymphing when i went to Broken bow Ok. Found them pretty handy when fishing a fly below surface.
@andrewdixon86125 күн бұрын
@@theduckaholicgamer7976 I have seen people using an indicator of some kind but not a bobber. It’s a great idea - I will be trying it - I fish a lot of nymphs. Thanks.

Lamar Dixon Park, I have never seen a kayak there, but it isn't any signs saying you can't kayak.

Finally picked up a fly rod not too long ago and caught a ton of bluegill on it. Most fun I've had fishing. You ever try any saltwater fly fishing?
@LouisianaBlackwaterFlyFishing12 күн бұрын
Yes, but not often.. I would more if I lived closer then 2hrs from the nearest saltwater :)
@freeze69312 күн бұрын
@LouisianaBlackwaterFlyFishing Understandable. I'm in the Lake Charles area so I have some saltwater opportunities roughly 45 minutes from me so I've been itching to dip my toes in

I see that you strip a lot after you cast. Have you tried pausing between the strips. Just curious. It seems to be my technique lately! Love your videos man keep it up!!

Yes, sometimes they want it moving , and sometimes slower, or just floating to the bottom.

I got my 1st flyrod about 20 years ago at Dick's. It was a Pfleuger combo, with a 5/6wt rod and clicker reel, preloaded with backing, flyline, and leader, and it included a few cheapie flies. I still have it to this day, and I only got another flyrod when my Dad's best friend gave me a Wright & McGill 3wt rod. I got a 3/4wt MaxCatch Eco reel and all the line for Christmas, and it's one of my dearest possessions. (My Dad's friend passed away in 2021, and my Dad passed in 2022.)

That is pretty much an exact match! I have noticed that the ones falling on this side of the Mississippi are gray and tan like yours. The ones I've seen falling in Atchafalaya are bright white. I doubt panfish care what color they are.
