The focus of an opera production should always be the music and the piece as the composer and librettist intended it. Innovation and new concepts in production are fine, as long as they respect the original concept of the piece. Otherwise the result is not the opera as intended, but a new piece created by the producer. Audiences go to the opera to see Aida, not Aida reconceived by some producer who isn't a genius like Verdi was. If opera houses want to go in that direction, then they shouldn't be surprised when audiences stay away.

two wanta be's what a joke LOL During Jackie Evancho's first appearance on AGT the camera NEVER LEFT HER during the whole time she was singing. The list of Jackie's accomplishments is TOO LONG to list here, so I will list only a few. Jackie took away Michael Jackson's title as the youngest sole vocal artist to go platinum when she was 10 years old. She had 8 straight album releases that hit Number 1 on the Classical Chart. Youngest artist to give a SOLO Concert at The Lincoln Center. Best selling debut artist of 2010. In 2013 she headlined benefit concerts at Carnegie Hall, and elsewhere. She's had 3 PBS Great Performances Specials, many guest performances at National and International events, a private performance for The Emperor of Japan and his family. Duets with the two of the famous Three Tenors, and Andrea Bocelli. Of course I could go on and on but I hate typing. So go ahead and make your ignorant youtube videos, because that is ALL you can do.

"Beautiful media from all corners". That's the problem, all this digital stuff everywhere. I don't think what they carry is richer than what I experienced or felt 25 years ago. Deeper life isn't just about the "images" of television or internet culture, it goes deeper. Opera is also naive dreams, ideals, craftsmanship, handmade quality, depth, illusions, not necessarily shiny, fast, and illusory modern technologies, efficiency, or realism.

Oh man, you guys really nailed it with the story we get again and again on those nation got talent shows. But now look at this one. The girl just walk up, confidently tells the judges her name and that that she is going to sing Billie Holiday's song Gloomy Sunday, and goes ahead and sings it like Lady Day had come back to earth for a temporary visit kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHqZi5uIoJ1pftU.

Despite the vocal tricks she's after all these years still is almost totally unknown by the public. But she's talented enough to pass first round in random x-factor show but after that first 2 minute trick she showed everything she got and there is not much left. Great singing/artistry requires something more than the usual soprano vocal agility. And you can compare any contemporary opera singer with true greats artists like Callas, Pavarotti, Sutherland, Bjorling and and modern opera singers ALL falls short.. Besides, when it comes to "The Queen Of The Night" there is the Diana Damrau version that just blows everyone else off the stage.

@@ofisblagoevgrad6424 Yes, Damrau is a one trick pony, as most famous trained opera singers are, and in that tune she did blow the rest of the wolf pack off the stage 😄 .

@@ofisblagoevgrad6424 How did you find out of this pathetic channel, lol. when her don't miss the now 8 years old video where two amateur level tenors predicted Jackie Evancho and Amira Willighagen should ruin their voices because they sang a couple of opera arias as youngsters, hahahahah, they truly are two losers, hahahaha. Search for "Two tenors on child opera singers and TV talent shows", it's on this same schmop channel 😅 😂 🤣.
