I took a video of the two abandoned New Haven boxcars a few years ago. I really hope the T donates them. They have been sitting in Widett Circle since the early 1970s. The New Boston Food Terminal never really took off in terms of rail use. It was built very late in the New Haven era and was completed by the time of the merger into Penn Central. The green truss bridge that the Red Line uses is an original New Haven bridge built circa 1900-1910 when the NH rebuilt the former OCRR yards and wanted to raise the Old Colony tracks above the South Boston freight terminal tracks. This was known as South Bay Junction. You should check out the New Market area across the highway by the New Market commuter rail station. Plenty of buildings still exist that were served by rail.
