Is funny right there in Massachusetts is the most advanced transportation system ever created in Human History only now being discovered. All those roads, Bridges, cars...none of which anyone needs anymore #Tesla #joby_aviation not that rail line tho. Wouldn't even have an economy if that had never been there...nor still wasn't usable today. Watch Canada closely this week for what I mean and you will have your eyes opened is an understatement! 😊😊

Any plans for revenue service on these tracks?
@geoffadams5537Күн бұрын
So it's going to be a heritage railway using diesels traction..that's good. There are a couple of heritage lines in the UK that operate diesels, ex B.R main line classes as well as D.M.U first generation units but do use steam locos when possible. Many of the more established lines use both on gala days and special occasions.

My dream is being able to take a train from NYC or Boston to Newport…
@ltcmoose2001Күн бұрын
If the bridge could be build to get the trains back to Fall River that would be a game changer. Tourist train rides would give Cruise ship passengers another excursion option in Newport. Along with this is, figuring out how the state could build/rent some kind of cruise ship pier. One would see if the Navy would let cruise ships dock at the Pier at the Navy base. You could use the train as the shuttle to downtown. The Cruise ship industry is looking for alternatives for itineraries and Newport is a great one. The cruise ship industry is in trouble with the many of the ports in the Caribbean not being safe to visit. Cruise ships having to tender in Newport, limit the size of the ships that can be used to visit Newport.

A tourist train can certainly be an attraction and an economic benefit but this isn't really a restoration of rail service given that no passenger or freight service is part of this if I understand right. Would be more of a story if this line was going to be used to allow people to travel to or from Newport connecting to other cities and passenger rail or was taking freight off the roads.

They should extend the T’s upcoming Fall River Branch to Newport…but will they? Probably not.
@SouthCoastRailVideosКүн бұрын
That would be fantastic and it has been studied. Hopefully RIDOT can get back on track with their highway bridge issues and look for alternative transportation.

Now that the tracks to Fall River are ready to go and that there are I believe still plans for a Battleship Cove station that dream is one step closer to reality. For my money it would get a decent amount of ridership from people in Boston who don’t own a car 💯

I thought you put the switcher on the flatcar because it had old hotbox bogies, but then the flatcar appeared to have hotbox bogies too so now I'm puzzled...

The flatcar the engine was loaded on had roller bearings

One of the last things I’d want to do is be on the crew clearing the brush and trees, unless it was winter time,,,, because of deer ticks. I’ve had Lyme since the early 80’s. I’m among the first people in Minnesota to get Lyme disease.

That's cool with the two P&W freight engines on either end. The stainless steel Budd coaches are ex Amtrak cars built for the Santa Fe as leg rest coaches for the El Capitan.

Good to watch, thank you. It's always nice to learn of and see investment in Railways. I always like American Commuter Train Driving Cars, with their flat Fronts, so unlike European ones which are nearly always slanted or rounded some way.
