I bought one of these also, I had them weld up the clean out, as it leaked a lot of air. I replaced the hinge on my door and I replaced the door handle. For the door handle I included a spring so you could push the handle back engage it and then let it go and it would hold the door better. I also backed up the door hinge on the stove with washers, this was so I could put gasketing around the door. I also went to a local muffler shop and had them cut me out another section for the chimney. This improved the draw. And the last modification I did was rip out the spark arrestor, and I bought stainless steel gutter guards. I slide them up with a broom handle, and when they're clogged I throw them away and put in a new one. I also cut the legs on mine so it would fit inside my tent. Although I love the Mica window, I do move my stove around a lot and I would be afraid of destroying that. But since you don't move your stove, I thought it was a brilliant idea. The last modification I did to mine, was used self vulcanizing tape on the base of the feet so they did not dig in to the welding blanket or the floor of my tent.

I do not know if you know, but is it possible to make without cure, I am on a sodium restriction from my doctor. I assume it is fine, but do not know how long it will be shelf stable without the cure.

Very confused about confection sugar. You started with 1/2 c. then went to 3/4 c / 1 c. So you gave 3 different amounts.

This is EXACTLY what I needed and WAAAAY better than the any of the vendor's videos on same which btw start out with the speaker already removed and on the "work bench". And that latter part was what I needed. Thank you and thank you KZbin which has been great for a ton of my DIY stuff.

Do you have to use the mixer?
@suedoevideo4 жыл бұрын
No, you can hand stir it, however I like using the stand mixer because I feel the powder packet is much more evenly mixed and you want your preservatives to cover all the meat. When I hand mix, I feel like maybe I have might have lumps of meat that did not get the powder. Just me doubting myself! Ha!

I've been debating getting one of these to put in the screened in room that's above my boathouse. In the winter I cover the screens on 2 sides and the back with large pieces of thick waterproof Gore-tex material , and the side that faces the water with clear plastic to let me still have a view. Then I use it as my winter hammocking spot at home so I can save wear and tear on my expensive tarps bc I hammock camp in the winter. Having a stove like this with these mods would make my little "hammock man cave" that much more cozy and comfortable. Thanks for the great ideas!

Too high of leg if you’re putting that in a tent you need your heat to be a lot lower and put a piece of metal in underneath your air chamber that you burn upon and your bottom will never get hot I have a 55 gallon drum and I can have that stove red hot and I can put my hand on the button and hold it there for hours the bottom never gets hot but like I said that’s me but that’s what I would do because you need nearest space between the bottom of your stove And the piece you put in a boat 2 inches well for that stove ago in inch it will still do a enough that your bottom of your stove doesn’t get hot it just leaves near gap but it Hass to be tight from front to back and up the sides needs to go about 2 1/2 inches high up the sides so put them belly belly ridge that’s done like a trough but not a trough a rounded trough trough
@tonyshaw73895 жыл бұрын
For the door I would weld in a curved piece of metal to keep the flame from licking the maker that way it stays clear all the time but that’s me I’ve had to put them in when I put Pyrex in but there again you can have that Pyrex too tight because when it cools it cracks enjoy what you’re doing good job
