I need to replace the snout coupler. Can I remove the snout in place without taking the whole supercharger out?

I would plan to at least raise the supercharger to access everything and catch the oil that will come out

I would look for the later V8 cars that are supported by OBDII. It will make your life a lot easier maintaining it on a budget. The 6 cylinder is a great motor but the earlier electrics are tedious to work with, and support in the USA is limited at times.

The last "true" Jaguar would've had the inline 6, so the last year before Ford took them over and installed V8s. I had a '95 XJ6 in BRG with biscuit interior. Soon to have a 1999 XJ8 VDP, which even though is a much nicer car than the XJ6, in my mind, it's not a "true" Jaguar like the '95 was.

I’ve been trying to diagnose a misfire on cylinder 4 and a p0316 (random misfire on startup). All new coils and plugs but still getting those two codes back. Also have a rattle noise but not sure if it’s coming from the fuel injector or maybe the timing chain possibly? Have you ran into something similar?
@LowTechGarage19 күн бұрын
Are you using OEM plugs and coils? I put non OEM plugs in before and it caused misfires. Also change your fuel filter for good measure!
@JonVinci19 күн бұрын
@ this is one of my friends dads car that I’m fixing for him. The shop he took it to when he bought it put on aftermarket coils and plugs unfortunately. I’m really hoping they’re not the issue. Hard to find a junk yard that has one of these. He came to me after he spent $2000 on a new radiator, battery, and the coils/plugs at a jiffy lube of all places (they didn’t properly diagnose the misfire and just threw 8 coils and plugs at it). Also, it’s 2008 jag VDP 4.2L. Same as yours I believe. First thing I replaced on it was the fuel filter and the PCV valve both oem parts. The PCV valve was leaking and caused a p0174 lean code. After that was fixed, I put some fuel injection cleaner in the gas tank. At first it was driving great after the fuel filter but the next day he drove it and now I’m hearing that rattle sound with those misfires. Have you replaced the timing chains/guides/tensioners?

That kit is crap. I would be embarrassed to put my company name on it. That shield isn't doing anything, just some abs plastic with edge guard. Nothing fit properly. I would have sent it back. I dont own one of these cars, so i don't know if it's possible, but if i had one with this kit i would scrap the box and look for a generic intake on ebay with a 90 and a similar diameter and send that filter down into the wheel well. You'll still hear the whine and get some actual cold air with it. That filter probably needs to be oiled as well.
