Really cool to watch. But I have a feeling it could be entirely automated. Just put a normal solid bottom with like, 3 pneumatic slits that open along the length of it, and a cheap vibro engine mounted to the side of the hull.

With sand yes. When they are digging under the mountain, there is a big risk getting burried under it.

5:-07 it seems clear the water doesn't help unloading , BUT IT ADDS TO THE WEIGHT . The buyer loads his truck , goes to the weighbridge and pays per tonne some of which is water,

Since this a gravity feed auger , yes water does help to unload
