I liked it the book. But I agree, I feel Lisle just didn’t grow enough. She didn’t learn and she didn’t really try so she was just there…

I knownim late to the party but i begged my parents for thos book and i finally got it. It really is touching and especially if you can relate to Charlie in any way it hits so much more. I know in some parts whilst i was reading, my heart felt heavy and achey like the parts where kts mkre detailed especially, i could rlly visualise myself in her position. Some lines always stay in the back of my mimd such like "cut. Cut cut. Cut yourself into tiny peices" And the part where she was in the attic and she cut herself so deep she fell to the floor. I will say tho the chapters where they were on about the cafe really bored me. I didnt enjoy those bits and usually just skinemd thro it. I also bought How to make friends with the dark And I thought you'd be home by now And i csnt wait to finish it

Its really sad that I watched the movie before I knew there was a book so I knew what happens but it was still so beautiful reading it I loved the drawings and the schedules and reviews etc. My two fave parts are the Ballad of the Bundt (as I like to call it) and when Maddy first goes into the sea in Hawaii it was so uplifting Also my heart broke for both of them when Maddy found out that her disease was a lie like Maddy had lost so much time but her mom was so so broken

People of all ages have loved Harry Potter though. I had already been reading Goosebumps, Babysiter's Club, Babysitter's Little Sister, Boxcar Children, Bunnicula, and Baily School Kids before Harry Potter was brought to my attention. That said though, I have tried to read Fellowship of the Ring a few times, every time I only got to page 77, gave me a headache, it wasn't fun. I have since learned that it's like 95 percent male characters so that alone means it's not for me, but yeah no one can tell you what you need to have read tobe verified as a reader. I have never gone through a Percy Jackson book, I picked one up, read a bit, it was not gripping, and honestly if a book series is going to be about Greek myths, why does it need to be Olympus focused? What about Agamemnon, Clytemnestra, Briseis, Electra? Allthe fun stuff that has nothing or very little to do with dieties. And honsetly Rick Riodran has enough publicity, I can give attention to other MG authors whose books I'm pretty much guaranteed to like more than his. And I am still a reader even though I'm not picking up this very popular series. And the same goes for you, skipping out on what doesn't appeal to you.
@beautyliterate3 жыл бұрын
Completely agree! I worded it a little weirdly but I saw such a vast amount of people of all ages love the series. As you said there will always be certain series like these that while they are popular doesn't mean they are necessary to always read.
