In the 90s some studios charged for this before recording. I still don't use it.

Hey Bo. A bit confused. Is this signal path right? Guitar - Vol Pedal - Tuner - Octaver - OD - Comp - Preamp?
@BoBoswell9 күн бұрын
Good question! I know that's how it looks visually. But my tuner is not part of the chain; the vol pedal has a separate out for the tuner. The actual chain is: Guitar - Vol Pedal - Comp - Octave - OD - Preamp I started off having the Octave after the OD, but that messed with the tracking of the Octave, so I swapped them.

Aced it! However, in the 50 or so years I've played in and around Nashville, I don't think I've ever seen a Roman numeral chart. I'm not saying it's impossible, but Arabic numbers are by far preferred.
@BoBoswell18 күн бұрын
Yeah, I've seen Roman numerals a few times, mainly on worship charts. But Arabic numbers are more common. Thanks for the comment, and nice job!
@KirkDickinson15 күн бұрын
I first learned from a classically trained musician and he used the roman numerals to chart everything. I think that comes from that world. I have also seen Jazz charts with roman numerals. In the classical world is it pretty common to distinguish major with uppercase and minor with lower case, but the Jazz charts seems to not hold to minor as lower case. With the Nashville, it seems common (from the charts that I have seen) to write all the charts harmonized with the 1 as Ionian mode. In the classical world, not so much. If the song is in Dorian, the chords would be i, ii, III, IV, v, viø, VII or Aeolian... i, iiø, II, iv, v, VI, VII

As a fellow (new) worship bass player, I just discovered your channel whilst learning the Nashville Number system for thr first time. Been playing guitar for 18 years or so & bass for a few, so thank you for an amazing video. Since I love your teaching style, would you be interested in doing a lesson on Rutger Gunnarsson of ABBA & his percussive fingerstyle on Dancing Queen? And also the ghost note style he likes to employ. I'd love to learn that! Thank you & take care!

This makes me think of my childhood, driving along with my Dad and my Uncle in the old pick up in the back roads of Missouri… This song would often come on the radio, even as a child it touched my heart! ❤️🩹🎸❤️🩹 Thank you for this excellent Bass cover… I sent it to a good friend who is a base magician here in Denver . I have just subscribed to your channel.! Doug from Denver.

Thanks Bo! This was really helpful. For me, on the chorus, on the turn going back to the 1, on the first chorus, it went 1-2-3-5, with a hammer on the 3 from open 2, then slide the 5; on the remaining choruses, it was the same progressions, but played on the beats.

NSV number system has helped me a lot to open up the fretboard for me, and especially the patterns of the chord progressions, so now I can easily use and find on the fretboard 3,4,5,6 to make fills or use them to the next chord in a melody and not least become a better listener to how the progression goes.

Hi, can we simply the diminished 7 to just a plain minor?

Playing this for Christmas Carol service and your video has saved me so much time picking this out by ear. Thanks! The bass itself hard but the bit that I'm finding I have to focus on is the transition from turnarounds and instrumental sections back into verse.

While I appreciate the tabs, I got about 4 bars in and realized none of the notes add up for each bar. Word of warning to others, if you follow the timing on the tabs exactly it will lead to frustration.

@BoBoswell well I find it hard to improvise. The best thing i do is play with the scale I'm playing in and it sounds boring after some time

Wow! I am learning bass and was asked to learn the Nashville number system. This system didn’t make sense to me until you pointed out how using the system allows you to shift keys without changing what you have to remember (notes/numbers)

I just checked the video and the notation isn't blurred at 720p. Please check the video quality settings and make sure you're not viewing at 166p or 360p. At 720p the notation should be clearly legible. I hope that helps. Thanks!
