I loved my 65 Beetle. Bought it about 1977 for $400. Sold it a few years later for $200 after it wouldn't pass inspection because the bumpers were non-standard (yeah right) and it needed brakes.

'63 was also the last year of the ragtop sunroof, which this car doesn't have, but thought I would mention it. Another interesting note is that the Wolfsburg Crest on the end of the trunk trim was actually removed halfway through the model year, meaning this is an earlier '63.

Others have ready pointed out the various errors, but that's ok. All in good fun. Right off the bat, here's my 63 standard beetle, it's a deluxe. The popes nose was on splits, and maybe ovals? But a 63, wasn't called the popes nose. I have a 62 with the same thing, and I was schooled the hard way about that one! Good video though, it was a fun watch!

Its your friend again here, the Pole. My question is let's say I had a large family and 100 of them were in Mexico and need to travel to the States via the "unofficial" road in from Mexico to Texas. How would the shocks on this handle a flat, unpaved road at 30 mph with off road tires and 12 passengers? Would it hold up?

Funny - very good video. Glad we can have a joke, it all gets too serious sometimes in the VW 'scene'. It's a ridiculous vehicle in these times (I own one) but its fun and that's what matters.

The Beetle is the Cheapest Vintage Car you can still get, saw one in Upstate NY 1.5 ago and it was in very good shape for 7300. The guy who was selling said that his dog had sit in the backseat for sec. That's why it smelt like Stank P.
