Are you using your hips to get the arm going and to the pocket? It seems like a lot of the pros start the hips as the toe touches and then the heel plants. The shoulders move a little . Then you can pull from the power pocket?
@NickKrush.DGandFitКүн бұрын
Absolutely, I like to lead the motion with the hips as I go into the brace, then I stop the hips and shoulders with the brace to send that energy up to the arm so it can shoot toward the target.

Hoping for it to include the JOKERi in Premium and Base ;D Amazed that the Envys fly 3,3,-1,2 as numbers on the Electrons, the change of numbers are really good but its power related to the -1 turn is real on the mold it seems.

Which line do you think generates more potential distance? You seem to prefer using a slightly more overstable disc released on an anny line up high with a disc that has enough stability to fade back as it slows down. However a lot of bombers in long distance comps seem to prefer to use a slightly (or more?) flippy disc and release on a hyzer and try to have it turn over at the apex of it's height and again, have just enough stability to fade back as it slows down. Simon Lizotte showed me this in person years ago and he said out of 10 throws maybe 1-2 would get the release angle and height correct resulting in huge distance, the others would stall, turn and burn, etc. Appreciate your thoughts, thanks!
@NickKrush.DGandFit4 күн бұрын
More recently I've been preferring throwing stable to US discs on hyzer flips for my distance lines because they glide a bit better than OS discs on anhyzer releases, and it seems to be a little easier on my body as well because of the hyzer posture👍

He's obviously very fit, that's kinda his thing, but also while his form looks absolutely textbook and almost boring because of how expected it is, unless you're throwing 450+ with consistency your form probably doesn't look anywhere as close to this as most people imagine. Seriously it's comical how many times I thought I had gotten a form tweak down only to review the footage and realize I'm still a mile off. I think most people assume there form looks like this but slower when in reality it's probably not even close to this.

As a physical therapy school dropout. I would like to commend your anatomical approach to disc golf. Absolutely incredible. Would recommend you to perhaps look into the role of the transverse abdominus in addition to the obliques and rectus abdominus in backhand throw. It’s like a lumbar support belt around the spine and stabilizes the spine during rotation. You pretty much cover it without covering it and definitely strengthen it with those plank rotations. but it plays a stability role that rectus abdominus and obliques can’t do on their own so it might be worth looking into. often times it is just as weak a group as the other core groups. But potentially just as as important
@NickKrush.DGandFit11 күн бұрын
Happy to hear it! I talked about the TVA quite a bit when recording the video (and other deep core muscle and stabilizer info), but had to edit out a lot of stuff for the final video to get it down to a reasonable length. Maybe I'll do some follow-up vids to allow more time for talking about deep core muscle nuances etc 👍

I really wish more coaches would talk about how to warm up properly. It seems like most advice out there for disc golfers is advice from 30 years ago. Static stretching and a few pulls on an exercise band and then they are off to go throw a full power drive. I have a background in distance running, but a lot of disc golfers don’t have any athletic background and don’t know what a proper warmup should be.

Ive had the pip issue in my middle finger. Just an anecdotal caution, when i was trying to use the fan grip to take rim pressure off of my middle finger it would occasionally cause more pain because the flight plate pushed against the finger in a more extended position. Excellent video man, this is exaclty what i was looking for

Great video nick, I think your easily one of the best youtube coaches. I got a throw tip from you at mydisccoach and the info was gold. Can you provide recommendations for those who have what I would define as severe outward facing feet. I want to work with not against my body to have most effective coil. I know you mentioned drill but I meant in actual throw progression Also are you going to talk about back leg/hip coil
@NickKrush.DGandFit19 күн бұрын
Your foot angle will just look different than people with less outward facing feet but you can still throw just as well 👍 I talk about it at about 10:41 into this video. You can adjust your rear foot angle in the setup if it's more comfortable, but we still want to feel lots of stretch and tension in this drill. For the back leg/hip coil, you don't have to worry about that since the coil is the shoulders against the pelvis. This is mainly discussed at 6:50 into this video.
@julianseyal19 күн бұрын
@ yes sir I understand in the drill it can be adjusted I just meant, did you have feedback about outward feet during a full throw? Or are you saying just try to start more inward from the start (first step) in a real throw? Regarding back leg coil are you saying you don’t think it’s important or that “most” of the coil is upper body? Thanks
@NickKrush.DGandFit18 күн бұрын
@ correct, I give an example of Simon lizotte in the video and how his feet point more outward during his throw so you can be like him or even more pointed out if needed.
@julianseyal18 күн бұрын
@ yeah for sure. I see that example in the video. I just didn’t know if there was anything during the next step or coil that you would recommend differently or is it that I just kind of embrace that my feet are more open?
