Thank you for the BEST review I’ve seen for this hotel 👍 I’m going to Dubai in 3 weeks and I’m torn between this Doubetree and ( Hilton the walk ) which is down the street and also apartment style. Have you stayed there ? Any comparison thoughts? Do u think it’s warm enough to swim in the beach in January? Thanks
@doolyb4 күн бұрын
@@mtm-hi5nm thanks you so much! unfortunately I haven't stayed at the walk yet! As for the water if you are brave you can swim but it isn't as warm as in summer. I felt it was too cold for me!

@@doolyb You seem to know Dubai well. I have few more questions plz. How far is this Dtree from the center of the JBR walk or center? You mentioned Sofitel Dubai, do you think it’s suitable in January? Or it’s better to go in warmer months to enjoy the pools and beach? Finally what is the best resort around the palm island that you recommend in Dubai for a family with little kids ( other than Atlantis) thanks a lot.
@doolyb4 күн бұрын
@mtm-hi5nm sure! The doubletree is just walking distance from the walk! You cna easily walk to the other hilton! tree. I think it's still worth going to the sofitel as the pools are not too cold. And when I said the sea was too cold for me, I refuse to swim unless the water is rally warm! There are loads of people especially kids that swim in trh sea snd pools in January! On the Palm I haven't been to thag many hotels. I can say trh retreat is not really for kids, the sofitel absolutely is and if you have the budget for it the Rixos all inclusive is amazing! I have only been there once and for one night because there was a great offer and we had just come out of covid quarantine 😅the other hotel I can recommend for families (simply because I saw so many and not because I paid all attention to the facilities) is the waldorf astoria! But starting end of next year or so there will be more kids and family content if all goes well ☺️ although not in dubai I can also suggest the hilton yas island and the WB for kids in Abu Dhabi. And the mövenpick in ras al khaimah is super kids friendly with little kids football and face painting and other such activities.

Wonderful review. Some questions: 1.) I'm planning to visit the Ahlan lounge with my prioritypass. I also understood that the pass gives 3 hours access. Can I swipe them twice or do the lounges accepts only one swipe per priority pass? 2.) Which lounge is good for Vegetarian options? 3.) I just recently saw that Ahlan lounge is closed on Google. Is it true?
@doolyb19 күн бұрын
@@rlakshman85 3) there are multiple ahlan lounges (I think 3 at least) so it depends on which terminal and area you are in! 1) normally it is 3 hours before your next flight so you cna not swipe twice in the same lounge theoretically . Sometimes they don't care. But you can get into a different lounge with your pp. There is no limit for my card and I have visited 3 lounges on the same day. 2) all the lounges have vegetarian good but none specialise in it. WOW! That's a sensational business class 'mini cabin'! I'm laughing though, comparing ANA to British Airways...fpppppfffthhhpp, not even close. BA really need to sort themselves out as they're a national embarrassment. By the way, you must have been voted the most charming, friendly, sweet and appreciative passenger those air stewards served during that flight, for sure. You were just so sunny in demeanour and so delighted by everything! Thanks for confirming that ANA's business seats would be worth the money.
@doolybАй бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! I was indeed in a delirium of happiness and excitement followed by extreme satisfaction 🤣 the Flight attendants were so kind and I actually just flew with ANA 2 more times recently in business and am happy to report they were also super friendly and we had many laughs! And yes BA REALLY need to sort themselves out. If all their flights were the club suites they would be ok but getting those old horrible seats is a nightmare! Def not worthy the avios or money!
@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293Ай бұрын
@@doolyb I also highly recommend ANA generally as an airline. The best way to gauge or rate an airline is seeing how they stop things going wrong (ie; luggage being transported safely and accurately, flights being cancelled suddenly) and how they deal with you when things DO go wrong. Too many people rave prematurely about products and businesses--I only give a 5 star rating once I've seen how they deal with problems and how they perceive the concept of 'going above and beyond'. Thanks for showing me that these business class seats are worth the money, I was very impressed. I'll never fly with Lufthansa. BA or Ryanair. Many American domestic airlines are atrocious too, for many reasons too 'mean rude and controversial' to elaborate upon here. Everybody has their own standards I guess. I often wonder which airlines other experienced travellers like myself deliberately pay more to avoid flying with...
@doolybАй бұрын
@ciganyweaverandherperiwink6293 I've always been happy with ANA but I can tell you that my last experience with the ground staff in terminal 2 (London flight now goes from there) was absolutely terrible. The story is so long but the short version is due to a large bag they told us to wait in eco line for over an hour and then when we were ready to check in they said we timed out and can't fly anymore. I have never caused a scene before especially in Japan but that day I did and it got us on the plane luckily! So 2+ hours is not enough check in time for business class passengers with a bag that is longer than 80cm. But once we were on the plane... Just heavenly!

@doolybАй бұрын
@@lenny796 that is a good question and tough to answer. I think I prefer the mövenpick pool and breakfast and was cheaper than novotel. Novotel more chance to get upgraded. Mövenpick refused to upgrade category on 3 separate occasions despite valid reasons plus being platinum. Mövenpick beach less crowded but also need a vehicle to get to other restaurants. Novotel is opposite an area full of massage restaurants and shops. You need a longer taxi ride ie 20 mins to get the ngiht market from mövenpick. Despite this I felt mövenpick was more relaxing and if you want to rent scooters and explore the mövenpick is in a much better and safer location with less traffic and the national park is aso in the north. All in all I think if you want more secluded then stay north in mövenpick and if just want a base while doing a lot of nearby activities then novotel in the south is better!
