Not sure if it was covered and I missed it or if it’s any sort of requirement… but I think all big water boaters should carry a signal mirror. They make some that float and are small enough to fit in a pocket. 3” x 2” (or bigger if you have the room is better). But using the sun is an excellent signal that can be seen for miles and miles. There is a reason that they’re found in every military aviators survival vest. Cheap and effective (even in some cases they have been used at night to reflect the moons light).

@@manofthehour1983 It can be a very valuable educational tool for an angler if used as one. I don’t have any interest to watch a screen all day while on the water but I will use it occasionally on off days as a tool to learn something about the fish, structure, and their behavior during current conditions. On the tournament side of things, if you put in the time to get good at it, it can be deadly. There’s a steep learning curve.

I have to pick up trash every time my favorite fishing spot gets uncovered by the water. That’s because it’s a river that runs through the city and there’s a bridge not far from the spot. Best thing is that I think I’m the only person who goes there. Since 1. It’s usually under water, and 2. It’s hard to get to on foot.
@ChuckEarls2 ай бұрын
@@duplicarus I have the same issue here along the Lake Erie shoreline. When we get strong northern winds, Lake Erie returns our trash to us all along the lakeshore. I figure if mother Erie is going to do the hard part by removing it from the water, I can at least clean it off the beach and dispose of it properly. Too bad I used to, until I got harassed, by a MVPD as I was bagging up everything I found along the Skagit. They apparently don't do crap about the homeless scumbags riding around on stolen bikes, living along the river and dumping crap all over, but if a business owner, citizen, Veteran, takes their own time to pick up 6 yardbags of trash... "I'm disturbing the peace" and "failing to identify". Govt makes everything worse

This is why i love my fishing community Saw a young man one day while fishing i had a bass setup a micro setup and a catfishing setup I see this young man toss out a hook on a water bottle... While waiting for a bite he gathered 2 good sized bags of trash I came and chatted with him he didnt speak english only Spanish so i used my phone to ask " why do you get trash?" He typed for a moment and i translated " this is my home i fish and i pick up trash.. My mother brings my nephews to play here" I asked " you're fishing? Where is your pole?!" He read the message and laughed uncomfortably then typed " i cant afford one but i get fish *eventually* ( translated again he meant sometimes) I couldnt help but give this young man a $70 combo.... He earned my respect

Hey Chuck, great video. I'm a newbie to this and will be taking my elderly dad walleye fishing for the first time in Northern Michigan. I've been looking at a lot of Minnow-Style Body Baits, like the Flicker Minnow. Some run shallow, medium and deep. Because it's the end of summer here in Michigan, the walleye are still deep in 20-30 f.o.w Is it easier running shallow-running baits with the heavier snap-weights or deeper running baits on lighter snap-weights? Thanks, Mark
@ChuckEarls2 ай бұрын
Hi Mark, the snap weight process is the same with both shallow and deep diving cranks. Shallow divers have more of a subtle action which can be more productive below 50° water temps as well as on tough bite days 🎣
