Malawi is a poor country why, because Malawi is a consumer not producer and Malawi doesn't want to give licences to the local people for mining, instead they burn not doing mining 3:02

Wow, this is quite informative. I am an entrepreneur in Malawi with a keen interest in the extractive industry. Currently, I own aquamarine and rose quartz mines, including a huge ruby and gold deposit spanning 25,000 hectares, with the potential to also produce kunzite, spodumene, and rutile as by products. As I am also experienced in the cadastre system, it means I can locate and source over 40 minerals across Malawi. I am one of only two accredited gemologists in Malawi and one of fewer than 20 in Africa, having graduated from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). I'm looking forward to collaborating with like-minded people. With no grading and certification system, the mining sector in Malawi is largely informal, making it challenging for it to grow. As for critical minerals, Malawi holds the best mines in the world, and the sector has the capacity to generate $100 billion annually.

Lithium is not responsible it is a short-lived dirty resource that requires open Brian pits in order to actually process the lithium it is absolutely terrible for the environment in Maine being the most forested state in the United States deserves to have its environment respected especially after hundreds of years of environmental destruction by big business polluting our rivers cutting down our forests open mining that has left huge pits scattered across our state.. NO

Maine used to be a huge industry state where we used to destroy our environment for the sake of business in industry we have recently come up with new laws protecting our environment with some of the strictest mining laws in the nation and I’m sure if we want to destroy those new laws and start destroying our environment then we could find all kinds of valuable minerals and deposits all over Main but we will also destroy the beauty that the people here care about the people here the taxpayers are against destroying so the reality is mining is not an option here in Maine and it doesn’t matter how valuable the element that they want to mine is it’s not worth destroying our pristine environment that is just beginning to heal itself the Sebasticook river is just finally starting to get clean as well as many others across our beautiful state however mining of lithium would require open brain pits which would destroy and kill migrating birds as well as literally destroy the beauty of our state so I say we respect the new laws we put into place and we Live with them for at least 50 to 100 years before we even consider looking back

Our (major) utilities are owned by foreign interests. Our politics are flooded with outside influences. Our economy is always anemic. Most of the major renewable development has and is done by out of state interests. Many communities are seeing a high number of properties purchased by “folks from away”. If mining is going to be done by a foreign or outside entity and no real benefit is going to be had by the locals: good luck getting local support. Tax revenue is just money that goes to Augusta and disappears. People need jobs.

Just my $0.02 based on living here my whole life and working on large development projects. I personally support the idea of mining if the benefits outweigh the harm but if you can’t show Mainers that MAINERS are going to be the beneficiaries of exploiting their resources, you aren’t going to get their support.

Great interview. ANglo Pac has made significant effort to restructure itself from thermal coal, their journey to refocus on being a sustainable partner is an example as to how this sector can promote itself as a critical and strong financial partner to the worlds transition to a sustainable future.

This is just for social media but not real on the ground, Malawi will not get better from it's disease because it has got foolish stupid policies unless they change those policies that has imposed, and on mining they can't give local people licences though 2023-2024Government has shown interest on mining but mmmmmh I real doubt kkkkkkkkkkk

Hi there, it is great to hear the presentation. I would like to ask some question. Do you know what is the economic scale of Ga content in gibbsite bauxite or in red mud to be extracted? Maybe the 10% alumina refinery has greater amount of Ga in the bauxite/red mud. Some alumina refinery also tried to recover Scandium, actually, which market is more interesting Sc or Ga? Thank you.
