As an apprentice electrician with JDW Hamilton, I spent a few days disconnecting that stage. About 30 years later I ended up by coincidence speaking to the lady from Florida who was running the theatre it ended up in.

The Apollo will never die because of the history it has, its been gone for decades but it seems as strong as ever....you cant say that about many venues..its part of rock history, if you were a great, you played the Apollo/Greens Playhouse...even if you were a support act, just playing on that stage and being able to say, hey I was there..thats a memory that can never die...Long Live The Apollo, BTW the Facebook page is a great way to share any memories you have or just want to bask in the glory of past gigs...

I worked for Unicorn Leisure, but not at the Apollo. However I was called in once, to help out at a Rod Stewart concert, I ended up rolling the footballs to him from the side wing, which he kicked into the audience. I also played a football game, it was Unicorn Leisure (Head Office) vs the venue where I worked. Frank didn't play, but Big Max (Max Langdon, Frank's partner) played, as did Joe Linwood the accountant. Joe eventually took over Unicorn Leisure. These were great days in the mid 70s, working for Unicorn Leisure.

Wow!! Really good to know it has a new life somewhere else. It was always a forlorn building as i was growing up. Amazing to see inside. I remember the 'Traxx' graffiti in the 1980s for a local band related to The Skids.

Je garde un souvenir triste de Kirkcaldy. en juillet 1979, la ville était complétement sinistrée: commerces fermés, maisons abandonnées. Cela soulevait le coeur. Puisse-t-elle resplendir en 2020.

Two of my 3 schools have now disappeared: Commercial (down the lane) and the High School. Only Pittencrieff is still there.
@keithpringle39402 жыл бұрын
Has the high school gone now? My old primary school I'm sure was called pitreavie primary, in this or mebbes part 1 it's pitcorthie primary. It's still in the pitcorthie housing estate. I was at the high school 1st year and a bit of 2nd year. My old man was in the RAF at pitreavie castle, down the pit. We lived there 88 to 91, all them old houses are gone now apparently!
@williamgeorgefraser2 жыл бұрын
@@keithpringle3940 The High School was knocked down a few years ago and the new one is now at the other side of the former playing fields next to the railway line.

@@williamgeorgefraser Jesus!! I mind some of it was reasonably new, well for the early 90s anyway!! The main building must of been ancient though, I thought it would've been listed considering the age of it?? I would hardly recognise the place now!! Cheers!!
@williamgeorgefraser2 жыл бұрын
@@keithpringle3940 I remember being told that my granddad worked on the original building (and fell off). I think the main building must have been built during the 1930s as the New Wing was in place when I arrived in 1964. The original huts,1,2,3, built of concrete were also there as well as the double wooden huts 4/5 and 6/7.
@keithpringle39402 жыл бұрын
@@williamgeorgefraser From what I mind, there was the main building and I think j block which was joined into the main building by an enclosed walkway type bridge. Then there was a few huts that had the music rooms and changing rooms I think? J block had the maths, English, big art room and home ec stuff like that in it. The main building had all the language rooms, history, geography and probably more that I can't remember in it, mebbes the craft and design workshops too?? The main building had some fancy woodwork, doors etc and the stonework must've been worth a fortune, it was an impressive building!! I would've thought it could've been turned into expensive flats or something like that?? So did the old primary school get knocked down too? It was just along the road a wee bit. My pals old man had the macaris ice cream shop at the crossroads with the traffic lights, if you took a left at them it would take you up to brucefield and the high school!!

I was just going through a box of my dad's old books in my basement here in Toronto, Canada when I came across a science fiction book from 1954 about flying saucers. There was an address written inside the book on the first blank page that read '41 Napier St, Kirkcaldy' by the owner I presume. Probably my grandmother bought it at a book sale for my dad here when she visited Scotland in 1971. My grandmother was born in Dysart, Fife, but moved to Toronto, Canada in the 1920's.

What a wonderful video thank you for sharing, I was just thinking about him and I googled his name and came across this. I met Ronnie when I worked as a field sales rep for Scottish Power. Ronnie ran a direct sales company called Macoy Marketing Solutions. I started my sales career in 2001 and I'm still doing it now in 2018. In all that time I have never met anyone as kind and compassionate as Ronnie Coyle in this industry. In truth, he was far too kind a man for the sales industry. Gone far too soon.
