Is it just me or does it also seem like Hanzo didn't just agree to help because he worked out who she was talking about but also because he realized who she actually was. The story of what happened to Black Mamba and her new family must've reached the ears of everyone who knew of Bill and the D.I.V.A.S.

I like the extra detail that you hear that bottle of sake be dropped by the shaved guy in the background after she mentioned Hattori Hanzo's name. After all, he is not deaf, he shaved his head!

"The power of this weapon - any weapon - comes from here (points at heart), but only when tempered by this (points at head). By the discipline, the self-control of the one who wields it. *That* is where true strength of a warrior lies."

Another detail that is just phenomenal is when [BEEP] wipes Bill's name on the window, she misses a tiny spot at the bottom and then goes back with her finger to get the spot. I feel like this is her way of saying she wants to erase him ENTIRLY and not leave even the slightest bit of Bill behind. Really encapsulates her thirst for revenge. Damn this movie is so good.

Sushi Bar Assistant: [Japanese] What'd ya want? The Bride: [English] I beg your pardon? Hattori Hanzo: [English] Oh..."drink" [makes drinking motion with hand] The Bride: [English] Oh, yes, a bottle of warm sake please. Hattori Hanzo: [English] Warm sake? VERY GOOD. Hattori Hanzo: [Japanese] One warm sake. Sushi Bar Assistant: [Japanese] Sake? In the middle of the day? Hattori Hanzo: [Japanese] Day, night, afternoon, who gives a damn? Get the sake! Sushi Bar Assistant: [Japanese] How come I always have to get the sake? You listen well... for thirty years, you make the fish, I get the sake. If this were the military, I'd be General by now! Hattori Hanzo: [Japanese] Oh, so you'd be General, huh? If you were General, I'd be Emperor, and you'd STILL get the sake! So shut up and get the sake! Hattori Hanzo: [English] Do you understand?

When Hanzo writes Bill's name on the window, you can see that this was not first take of the shot, as you can see mark of him whiping it out at least once before, like he did eventually in the scene.

While all other characters in Kill Bill are entirely fictional, there really was a legendary samurai warrior Hattori Hanzo. Not only that, but he also appeared as character in famed Japanese movie Shadow Warriors. Guess who played him in that movie? Sony Chiba.

QT was a huge fan of Sony Chiba, who, despite being totally unknown outside of Far East, was a true legend of Japanese cinematography. Quentin always said that Chiba was his only choice for the role and had Chiba been unavailable or rejected the offer, it was huge possibility that Quentin would just give up on the whole project.

It is said the Japanese people have three hearts: 1. The one they show to the outside world. 2. The one they show only to their closest family and friends. 3. The heart they show to no one, but lies deep within. Hattori Hanzo sadly had to break his oath to no longer make swords. And being heartbroken at the vileness of his former student (Bill) he forged the instrument that would be Bill and his insidious Viper Clan's ending. So in a sense, he broke his oath out of sorrow, not need. And the "heart" he forged the sword with, reflected that sorrow. It would have been cool if he had told Beatrix: 28 years ago I made an oath to God that I would never make instruments of death ever again. And im that time, I found peace. But a part of me knew you would come. A part of me never forgave Bill for what he had done with my swords. And in my sorrow upon seeing you? My finest sword was born. This gift I give you as a symbol of my atonement for Bill. May it's blade make swift work of those who have wronged you. And may you find peace.

master Han is probably most deeply vexed although he doesn't show it with having to have the most surface conversations ..deep down he wants someone to be the one...but something like that you can never say...that's why the revealing is so beautiful... she knows who he is while she knows he doesn't....yet...she gets the pleasure of spending time with him knowing what she will reveal will change his life forever...what an honor.. its a very sweet moment...bc she has news that will change and restore everything, and she can slowly come into and enjoy the full reaction.....its so beautiful..... this reminds me of LUKE 24...... JESUS IS LORD.. LUKE 24 13That same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15And as they talked and deliberated, Jesus Himself came up and walked along with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing Him. 17 He asked them, “What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?” They stood still, with sadness on their faces. 18 One of them, named Cleopas, asked Him, “Are You the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in recent days?” 19“What things?” He asked. “The events involving Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered. “This man was a prophet, powerful in speech and action before God and all the people. 20Our chief priests and rulers delivered Him up to the sentence of death, and they crucified Him. 21 But we were hoping He was the One who would redeem Israel. And besides all this, it is the third day since these things took place. 22 Furthermore, some of our women astounded us. They were at the tomb early this morning, 23 but they did not find His body. They came and told us they had seen a vision of angels, who said that Jesus was alive. 24Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had described. But Him they did not see.” 25 Then Jesus said to them, “O foolish ones, how slow are your hearts to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and then to enter His glory?” 27And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was written in all the Scriptures about Himself. 28 As they approached the village where they were headed, He seemed to be going farther. 29But they pleaded with Him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” So He went in to stay with them. 30While He was reclining at the table with them, He took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Jesus-and He disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us as He spoke with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” 33And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, gathered together 34 and saying, “The Lord has indeed risen and has appeared to Simon!” 35 Then the two told what had happened on the road, and how they had recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread.

Adding the western theme over these scenes just works so beautifully, it really is magical. Tarantino is a real artist when it comes to movies. It helps that he himself is a movie lover, so he crafts these films in a way that are beautiful and pay homage to older ones, while staying true to his own vision.
