Hello, love coffee time and hearing and seeing what y’all have been up to. How did you come up with the name for your studio? 😊
@wockypots208814 күн бұрын
Our daughter actually came up with the name when we were brainstorming names. It came from her love of the poem jabberwocky by Lewis Carrol

Hey y’all! Tammy Jones here from Miami, Oklahoma, and I so enjoy coffee time and seeing what you are up to around your studio. I love the idea of having both wheel thrown and hand built items at each of your episodes. I am looking forward to your Etsy store. 😊

Hi Tammy 😊 thanks for watching. Can’t wait to add you to our map. I’ve been to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma once. The weather was amazing while we were there. So glad you appreciate seeing both styles. Have a great week 😀

Have you thought of using one of the small plastic greenhouses to store greenware? You can also wrap for added protection against drying as I appreciate kiln is in the same space. Love the little fish dishes 👍
@wockypots208814 күн бұрын
I really have considered that and I may indeed get one. It would serve two purposes for us. It could be used for the pottery and it could help us this year when we are starting tomato plants for our garden. Last year we did not have issues with the pieces drying too quickly but this year either we are a little too distracted or our studio humidity has drastically changed. Thanks for that reminder and for watching. 😊

Hi, I enjoy watching your videos. To get the dry pots to soften, you can use a damp box. It is basically a large plastic airtight containers with an 1-1.5 inch of plaster poured at the bottom. You can spray water on the plaster and put pots in the box. Damp box is very easy to make and there are lot of videos . Hope this helps.

What glaze do you use on your owls?
@dianakio283121 күн бұрын
I use Mayco’s Birch on them. My clay is standard 112 which is a speckled tan clay so the speckles often add to their charm. 😊

When you say you’re new at pottery how long have you both been doing pottery? Where did you get your pottery training? You have such lovely amazing pieces.
@wockypots208822 күн бұрын
Hi Tammy! Shane has been doing pottery for 3 years and I have been doing it for 2. He taught high school art and taught pottery his last year before retiring. Most of the training we have had has been hands on trial and error, lots of research and tutorials from fellow potters on KZbin. We have also participated in some local workshops. Knowledge is power and the more we learn the more we develop our own style. Thanks so much for watching, liking our work, and asking questions.

@wockypots208829 күн бұрын
Hi Audrey❤️. I hadn’t heard of peanut butter pie either until I met Shane. His mother always made them and we have continued the tradition. They are super easy to make. Graham cracker crust with the cooked vanilla pudding with about 2/3 of a cup (sometimes a little more) of peanut butter stirred in.

Those oval plates are beautifully glazed. Bowl with seaweed is beautiful too as is spectrum glazes bowl. So many nice pieces. Can you explain why and how you use the kiln paper. If you had some drips does it help prevent glaze sticking to shelves.
@wockypots2088Ай бұрын
We have the kiln paper for glass fusing it keeps the glass from sticking to the shelf. But if we are out of cookies, how that happens I’m not sure but it does for us 😁 we will stick a piece under. At the cone 6 we fire too it turns to powder. I wouldn’t recommend it because it is quite costly for something you only use once. Thanks 😊

You can use both legs with a kick wheel by kicking out one leg while pulling in with the other at the same time to build up speed then using one leg to keep the speed. But using one leg is not bad as I have a spinning wheel that I use one leg for the treadle and don't notice it much of the time.
@wockypots2088Ай бұрын
Thanks 😊. After we brought it home, I sat on it and threw a bowl. So much fun!!! Now I have to begin the restoration process. I’ll be talking more about this kick wheel at our next coffee time.

Hi Laney ❤. That is a great question. Things we would have done differently would be to pay a little extra to have a place where we could keep the truck there with us. We had an inside space and had to unload and then go park and then come back and set up. Yes, we would do both days again. Wednesdays and Saturdays since it is a busy tourist area were both busy. In September Wednesday wasn’t as busy, but it was still worthwhile. We will think on this some more and talk about this in our next coffee time too. It may help someone else. Have a great week my friend 😊
