While riding in warm (not hot) weather 75F, I find my temps hover near the upper range (~about parallel to the front wheels icon, almost always 4 bars). Not extreme but one notch from the top. Modest RPMs and speeds, no loads. Coolant levels are fine, no other warnings. The fan seems to be on when I stop. Does that jive with the experience of others?

Won’t make any difference, the spring is a bypass valve and will only open if the filter blocks. The spring rate is next to identical. The HiFlo is a better filter, and the flow rate will be higher - smaller holes, but more of them. You’re right regarding warranty, but that’s the case with any manufacturer. The HF152 is used on loads of engines up to 1000 cc, more than enough capacity for the cf Moto.
