Always make sure your boat ain't going faster than you can swim when you go for your line. Especially when you're offshore fishing.

I believe, once you release all air from swimbladder now it will go to the bottom and lay down like a halibut it wont be able to rise up and swim as usual and its fatal as well, I really think thats what will happen.

Alot of boats use descending devices now with cameras. They attach a clip that pressure releases and you actually watch it pull the fish down to the bottom and once it hits a safe depth the clip releases and the fish swims off fine

All of the bridges hold them. If you can get live bull minnows or some fresh cut bait, Pensacola pass is good for them also.

Those big "pin fish" are also called butterfish.. excellent eating and nothing but meat.

Nice Almaco! Just a suggestion, move your hand up on the foregrip. It will give you more leverage to put pressure on the fish.

Gary told me about your channel! Got to get ready to fish tomorrow but I will be binging your content as soon as I can. Kind of wild the first video I checked out had the old break the rod and cut the finger. I don't fool around with snappers anymore. Those cheap baby boga grips are the way to go. Those gill plates don't play.
@GilmanFishing
@GilmanFishing Жыл бұрын
Lol, yeah those 2 mistakes made the cut. I should have opened the bail and walked around the boat to break him off, that poor little inshore rod couldn’t handle it. I actually got cut twice by gill plates, it happens 😂. Thanks for watching!!

Thanks! My best guess is the KZbin algorithm wants to see frequent, consistent uploads so they can make money off advertising. My 60 hour a week day job takes a lot of time so I’m unable to put content out as frequently as needed. Thanks for watching!

What caused the air build up? And what happens if you don’t vent the fish?
@GilmanFishing
@GilmanFishing Жыл бұрын
It’s from bringing the fish up out out of deep water. If you don’t vent them, they will float on the surface of the water and die.
@gregory4417

What is it thats sticking out of his mouth? Is that his toungue? I have only ever fished lakes so im not too familiar with this stuff
@GilmanFishing
@GilmanFishing Жыл бұрын
Its called barotrauma, its from bringing the fish up from deep water. It causes they’re swim bladder to fill with air not allowing them to swim back down. Venting the fish allows them to return to the bottom instead of floating on the surface. I believe thats his stomach sticking out of his mouth, but not completely sure
