I'm planning on taking classes and get my certification soon!! My question is how do doulas charge? Payment wise, I know it depends on the doula but what would recommend? Having them pay per day? Week? Etc.

How interesting I just signed up to start classes online and didn’t even research how much they make and it has always been a dream of mine to do this. I’m a single mom 46 yr old and I make $85,000 right now in my business position so I will want to make more like 100,000 as a doula. This may just not be the right field for me sadly. However I’ll look to the positive side and do the courses and have it as a skill so when I find my lifetime partner I can do this and all my expenses won’t be on my plate. Wow Thankyou

I'm listening to you talking about rates and convincing people they are worth it and I'm thinking about my divorce lawyer who charged $500+++++++ an hour and he wasn't unapologetic at all and he totally sucked!! lol Then I thought of the last time I looked into getting a part time house keeper.... the going rate was $25 - $30 an hour! I nearly choked! That kind of puts things in perspective. Nothing against people who clean homes, it's a tough job. No one should apologize for needing to survive, eat, pay bills etc. I'm not a Doula..yet, I just discovered this last night and am seriously looking into it and doing as much research as I can. But I will say, once I've gone through the training and ready to rumble, I won't work for free or feel weird about discussing my rates. I used to be an actor, my day rate was pretty cool and I was not uncomfortable about what I was being paid AT ALL, nor when my agent negotiated more, you get what you negotiate, not what you deserve . No one will throw money at you because they think your rate is way too low. Great video! Thank you!
