Hi, nice video with clear info, but there is one very important thing I do not agree with 😉 The Lance is imo not just an entry rod. It performs so well at close - mid range that there are a lot of way more expensive rods falling behind it! It is an awesome dry fly rod for an almost unbelivable price. There is also a testing video by Trident Fly Fishing about this rod series and I totally agree with the conclusion there. It doesn't have to cost a world to enjoy a really good rod. Tight lines everyone and a good start in 2025! 🌟

I love Rio Lines but get frustrated at Rio constantly changing their names e.g. RIO AFS Outbound Vs Rio Elite Scandi Outbound. On this theme is there a difference between Rio Versileaders and Rio Versitips?

I’m interested in these rods. Not done nymphing much mainly fish hares ear, Ptn and spiders plus drys. Can you recommend a rod.
@sportfishАй бұрын
Hi Neil, the Vision Nymph Maniac is a specialist Euro Nymphing rod, and is specifically designed for this style of fishing (euro nymphing). If this is the style you are interested in, then this is one of the best out there, but if you were maybe looking for a more conventional nymphing rod, for say, upstream nymphing or even some classic wet fly fishing, then perhaps the Greys Wing Streamflex is worth looking at in a 10ft #3 or #4 as these rods are also designed for casting also. We hope this helps!

I have a couple of Snowbee rods. Excellent and definitely underrated by the elite end of the industry. I've seen Excellent reviews of their recent rod models winning best rod for the money beating rods by the top 5 or 6 so called elite brands. I missed John's surname btw.

Excellent video as usual from ‘The Maestro of fly fishing’! Please could you let me know the make of the cap clip on magnifying glasses Charles is using right at the end of the video and if possible where I may purchase them? Thank you Graham

I bought one from madriveroutfitters in usa paid the couple dollars extra tax p&p. With any luck the USA and UK will do a trade deal and we can then buy their stuff and sell them our superb british fishing products without tariffs and export taxes.

As always I love your videos Howard; very informative and you are a very thoughtful & intelligent angler. I would love to know who makes that portable rod rack you carry; I’ve seen it multiple videos now and would love to get one for my own fishing 🍻

What does the mud do?. Does it stop it floating or stop it sinking?? You said it 'helps improve presentation' but didn't really fully explain why or how. What is different due to using mud. What goes wrong if you dont etc A minor detail. Hope you don't mind me asking. Otherwise a very very helpful vid. You have a fab tone and demeanour for presenting this sort of thing. You got straight into it and covered the content with not fluff or silly nonsense. Cheers.

Hi, the mud helps reduce the leader shine on the water's surface and also allows it to sink so the fish don't see it. Thanks for your feedback!

Please don’t use your dog biscuits dry as they then swell up in the carps stomachs possibly causing damage. Pre soak the feed biscuits so they are swollen when the carp take them. I use hot water soaking them for about 5-10 minutes then drain. You can also add flavourings to the water which increases the attraction. By changing the flavours you avoid ‘educated’ fish ignoring them !

Balancing out a little rod be damned - I bought one of these (the 5000) because at 70g it's the world's lightest fully framed large arbour fly reel, and I use it (with #4/5/6 wt lines) for ultralight hiking wild fishing. Fantastic reel. The Sage Click comes close (in some ways it's even nicer) but the comparably sized model is a whopping 18g heavier.

Used Greys Cruise 7/8 couple times now. And i can tell its classic Greys reel. Good construction and garbage drag. Drag is so bad that its weak at even hardest tight. From all reels from Greys i had it feels like its biggest down side of theese reels. If you want fish small fish and need close cage small cheap reel go for it. If you need drag big avoid on theese.

@@sportfish nono. I bought all Greys reels in our local companies. Its just that greys reels have bad drags overall. I had Fin, cruise, G-tec, GTS, Tital and all of them had bad drag.
