I see where you're coming from. Most implosions are caused by a negative pressure inside, however an implosion is defined as when something collapses or bursts inwards on itself which is pretty much what happened. The tanks folded in on themselves as they collapsed. An explosion would have sent the roof upwards and the walls out in all directions away from the centre of the structure. Although there's nothing strictly wrong with 'implosion' perhaps 'collapse' would be a better definition?

I remember this. i use to pass those tanks on the way to school in green point an was always amazed by them, i was sad when they imploded them. also how weird is it that you could see the twins towers after the tanks were imploded an just exactly 2 months after the tanks went down that beautiful skyline in manhattan was taken down to, what a shame

It's not an explosion. Yes, explosive charges were used to have the tanks collapse in on themselves. Oh yes, they were not buildings either. Read some engineering manuals. This was a structure IMPLOSION An explosion would be if the tanks were filled with gas and ignited and were blown apart into a billion pieces.
