I thought mahamri and mandazi are same? Baking powder doesn't absorb oil?

@@nainav9803 it all depends on where you are from. Many Kenyans tend to differentiate maandazi from mahamri while some Tanzanians use the two terms interchangeably or say 'shortcake' for what Kenyans call maandazi. I guess it doesn't really matter. I did not understand your second question.

This is the best pancake recipe I’ve ever tried, and I must say I’ve tried quite a few. To me, the secret ingredient and the game changer is without question the corn starch, it makes the pancakes soooo soft and moist. ❤ The downside is that I can’t stop eating . 😂

Yeast and coconut milk are for mahamri. This maandazi recipe calls for baking powder. You can reduce the amount of butter you use if you wish. But if you compare the ratio of butter to flour in this recipe vs cakes or butter cookies, this is not too much butter at all. The important thing is that your maandazi stays soft but does not soak up oil when you fry it🙂

I would say it's not healthy as chapatis are made of wheat grain and not all purpose flour that undergoes processing that removes the bran and germ, which are the most nutritious parts of the wheat grain.
