Play with the horse that shows up. And MW did just that! The horse was dominant, not necessarily unhappy!

I prefer pat parelli's handling of his stallion casper, who does a lot of the same things but without having a stick snapped at him. pat does it all with body language.

This video makes me sad. Sad on so many levels. Sad because there is no REAL connection here between the horse and human. A forced connection is what I see. The horse is not happy. This is about the humans ego. How he can make the horse do what he wants. Not a RELATIONSHIP. Not a partnership. I wish humans would stop using horses for their own personal pleasure and gain and start growing real connection and relationships as horses do with one another. The language of Equus. Horses have been abused by humans long enough. NOW is the time to start forming a NEW WAY TO BE WITH HORSES. Not about what I can make my horse do, but what he wants to do with me!

It's also not particularly good dressage.

Watch carefully the horse's body language. He is definitely not happy about what is asked of him. His tail is switching, head is shaking, will not allow his head to be touched and is nipping at the man.Is that a horse that is happy? Too bad the horse is trying to tell him there is a better way of asking me. Put down the stick and I will be yout true friend.

Hi Ronda, thank you for speaking out your concerns. Please note that this is a very dominant but also playful stallion. It's not about the stick, it's about a conversation between a horseman and his stallion. In my opinion Michael Wanzenried is a great horseman..

I'm sorry but I cannot agree. I have a 12 year old Mare, wild from birth.. Believe me when I tell you give me a stallion to work with anytime. Mares are moody, arrogant, pushy and at certain times of the month totally unpredictable.A stallion if handled properly can be as calm as a new fold. For me a great horseman needs nothing more than his body, knowledge of the horse's reaction to circumstances, and how to respond to such circumstances in a calm quiet way. No showmanship is needed. It is all about the horse.Believe you have an hour to teach something and it will usually only take 15 minuets. This great horseman I am talking about is MONTY ROBERTS. It's all about the horse!

He doesn't want this horse all calm. He wants him on the edge because thats how he plays without humans. He hasn't killed his spirit.
