Another thing to at least consider as to why Poitier and Belafonte are remembered and praised more than Edwards is something that exists even today. Poitier and Belafonte were not African Americans. They were Afro-Carribeans. White people today, some blacks do it too, choose non African American blacks such as Black British actors. It's a sore spot for many AA actors and people especially when they are chosen to portray AA heroes, which they've done a lot, like: Harriett Tubman, Nina Simone, Dr ML King, Coretta Scott King, Fred Hampton, Malcolm X, to name a few. Why? Not sure. From disdain for AA in general to thinking the other blacks are just different and the difference is deemed better.

Sidney Poitier died three years ago. Harry Belafonte died two years ago. James Edwards died fifty-five years on his next birthday. We don't know how well Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte will be remembered fifty-five years from now. Harry Belafonte and Sidney Poitier grew up as friends in the Harlem section of Manhattan in New York CITY. I'm sure very few people if any thought of them as Afro-Caribbeans. James Edwards is usually credited with making a plethora of Military FILMS usually portraying high ranking officers after his 1st film 'Home of the BRAVE'. In Home of the BRAVE' he was the star. The whole story was about his character an engineer topography specialist. He had a nice career. He worked until the time of his death in 1970. His last film was released after his death. He didn't have the successful career that Osar winner Sidney Poitier or Harry Belafonte had. His co-stars in Home of the Brave, Frank Lovejoy, and Steve Brodie didn't have the successful career that Sidney Poitier or Harry Belafonte had. They didn't have the successful career that James Edwards had.

@harpereion8702 okay. You offered a reason why and so did I. Good for you. I said something to consider. I didn't proclaim it as fact. Just something to consider.

My love for boxing first introduced me to Mr.Edwards in the late 80s while watching a movie called The Joe Louis Story in which he played Joe Louis’s (played by Coley Wallace)boxing trainer,Chappie aka Jack Blackburn.Thank you for this documentary & I hope you continue to make more like this!

Will always remember the very frank and honest treatment of race in the scenes between him and Timothy Carey from Kubrick's THE KILLING. He was excellent and I should see more of his work.

Hey thumbs up to you! I like your videos but not the music in the background. I'm here to learn not to be entertained. Sometimes the music is louder than your voice making it harder to hear what you are saying which is valuable info. Thumbs up and thanks.

Just curious. What's the point of having a credit card limit if you can only spend below 30 % ?
@winstoneley43810 ай бұрын
The point is to have money available and show responsibility. The bank thinks if you go over 30% it'll be harder for you to pay back in full.
@easymoney14649 ай бұрын
As your credit limits grow, it becomes a lot easier to keep the utilization under 30%. Multiple cards with large credit limits is ideal, in my opinion.

I feel that mainly, it was timing as the narrator stated, he just came on the scene a few years too soon, just as it was timing for Howard E. Rollins, Jr., then Denzel Washington was the one to break through a few years later. But personal variables, for both Edwards & Rollins, Jr., also applied.

At 26 I opened a credit builder account and I just got to the point to where I can get my first credit card. I originally did this just to raise my credit score; I'm straight treating it like a video game right now. I'm not planning on taking out a loan, and I'm definitely not planning on, "Ballin' Out.", even a little bit.
